It's too bad the mint cannot get it right, and we're able to pick them apart so easily. Most will be glad to know at the silver level I still can't see the coin. The video was interesting however I'd like to see the king's image which wasn't shown. The way complaints are arising I don't know if I'd want to strive for another level. It's sad to think this coin is another cash grab, which so many people seem to agree with. Maybe as a silver this coin will turn out to be ordinary, so nothing really lost. In fact a savings of money!
I too have been getting shipping notices for coins shipped a couple weeks ago. Maybe they're having computer issues. This just doesn't strengthen faith in the mint.

Actually, I laughing about it now. Later today, I thought do I really need this coin? No, it was more about the whole process of acquiring it. I use to enjoy purchasing a coin I liked and admiring it in hand, but lately I noticed that the quality control of the coins are becoming an issue. I have returned coins 2 -3 X because of flaws and I'm not enjoying collecting as before. So, the mint did me a big favour, by having this exclusive offer as a free for all.

The rules were quite clear for all to see, if the RCM followed them everyone would be happy, yet some reps just cared about every sale they can make.

Quote: I am already picturing the 1967 SD on a 50mm coin... Me too! If as they say it is a series of commemorative circulating silver dollars then there should only be 6. The centennial one would probably interest me the most however I don't understand why the Mint won't release descriptions of the remainder in this series given the low mintage and exclusivity. Anyone else have issues with the portrait details on the obverse? To me it appeared to be washed out or grainy and not at all like the original design. Definitely a remake of the 2010 coin. The 80th anniversary coin to me regardless of size is a cash grab and simply not worth the $190 regardless of the mintage.

To honor the 80th anniversary of the 1935 voyageur dollar is just more commemorative junk from the Mint. They may go and and issue the 1939 - 2019 of the parliament silver dollar (80 years), the 1967-2017 (50 years) of the Goose, 1958-2018 (60 years) of the totem pole dollar. 1949-2019 (70 years) of the ship. Etc. Redundant anniversaries, IMHO.

I'm going to hold off on purchasing any of the 54mm coins until I've had a chance to actually see one at a show or club meeting.
Sounds like this could be the 'Big Dollar' series mentioned in another thread, however "replica" would be better suited.

In my opinion, this coin would have been better designed by just being a replica of the original except for the size, and the same for the big coins but this series the gold inlay was ok in hand then to have a coloured series a couple months latter, it's almost sold out what do I know. Most of the complaints are for the system that the RCM failed to follow, in selling this coin.

This is frustrating to me
I am a platinum MC member and this coin is something I wanted to buy, the purchase of this coin will renew me for next year (I did not know I was this addicted) I am not a flipper I buy what I like and a few as gifts. This coin was sold out before I had a change the email lead me to believe it was for platinum members only and I read on here about silver members having a rep order one for them I have to shake my head at the mint on this one.

On the coin design - the different finishes on this classic design is unique ... Perhaps the Mint thought to change it up a tad re gold enhancements so as to be somewhat different from both big coins and legacy nickel series...

The only coin this year that has garner some interest, but all for the wrong reasons. When around 2012, the RCM sent me the offer of a rep, the letter mentions there was over 5000 mc, but a few was offered a rep, for what it's worth. You crank out a mc exclusive coin and about 1/2 of your membership will be disappointed, still can't understand the withholding 10% for what? So a few dealers can make a killing on this coin.

Its puzzling why the Mint went with a low mintage of 2200 when there are over 5000 MC members. You would think they would mint enough coins for all MC members who wanted one. After all, they minted 6000 of the Masters of the Sky Goose coins so that everyone who did not get a free one was able to order one.
Also, they say the coin is "available from official dealers". Anyone know which dealers will be selling this coin?

Frankly, if they mint them as much as the goose, we wouldn't have 9 pages of discussion on it and no one would care if they don't have a chance to buy it. The only reason people care about the goose coin is RCM gave them out for free to Mc member

Marketing strategy? Unplanned or planned? Intentional ploy? Promise platinum MC members first whack at something special. Out it comes, flawed delivery. There's a known psychology factor in denying folks something they rightfully deserved and might have had. Whether they would have wanted it or not, it becomes the fact they WANT IT simply because they can't have it... Who wants to bet the purchase door will be opened again, even if it means increased mintage. RCM is profit driven -- there's no way they won't take advantage of the apparent high consumer interest in this coming set. Whether or not they manipulated the heightened interest is a matter of opinion. But there's absolutely no good reason for the flawed delivery as expressed on this thread other than it was orchestrated, in my opinion.
