Quote:...are those three Currency albums taller than the Eisenhower and Franklin albums? They are indeed, by about 3/8 of an inch.

An odd size Dansco. Very odd. I assume they will not fit in the slipcases. I think my brain just broke.

They're designed for the 1- and 3-page currency sheets, which are 9.5" x 7.5". No slip cases available for these Dansco 7001 albums to my knowledge.

I like my Kennedy collection so much more in the Caps albums that I won't mind the size difference once all the rest of my coins are in Caps albums. I managed to get all my Kennedy's out of the Dansco albums or government holders without ever touching them

Ok, just got around to finishing up populating page 1 of the CAPS 2229 tonight, and here's what it looks like complete. The 2013 and 2012 Reverse Proofs really show up nicely, even in the poor lighting. The 2013 Enhanced has too much glare on it, but for those of you contemplating purchasing CAPS, you can get a good sense of what the overall page looks like filled. Looking forward to adding the 2016 issues!

CelticKnot that looks awesome, thanks for sharing the photo. I think I'll start the ASE albums next. The only ASE's I've got so far are all the anniversary sets, a good start I'd say how many albums for the entire run?

Quote: CelticKnot that looks awesome, thanks for sharing the photo. Thank you, and you're welcome! Quote: ...how many albums for the entire run [of ASEs]? Two currently. 2228 (4 pages, 1986-2011) and 2229 (2 pages, 2012-date). The 2229 can take two more pages and has most of the 2nd page open. When the proof and uncirculated 2016 30th anniversary ASEs are released, there will be 13 spaces available in the 2nd page (16 total slots per page). If there are no special ASEs released in the next several years, that translates to room for 15 years of ASEs (at 3/year). Even if there are a few special ones released, I can't see me needing another album in fewer than 10 years. By the way - the 2228 and 2229 include labeled slots for the bullion issues, in case that wasn't clear.

I do like the "concept" of the CAPS album, and from everything I have read, the Air-Tight holders are a great way to protect your coins. But they are BIG! And the "economics" of a CAPS album just don't seem to work for some types of coins. For example, I can get a beautiful Blue Lighthouse State Quarters P/D album for about $20 or a similar Dansco P/D State Quarter album for about $25. But a CAPS State Quarters P/D album will run me $34 for the album, PLUS $55 for the 112 Capsule Kit.. That comes to about $99 (plus shipping) for just the album.. and you can buy all 112 of the P/D State Quarters for probably around $50 or $60 or so with a bit of shopping on ebay. So, hard to justify an album that costs twice as much as the coins.. Now, if I was going to do a higher-end album such as Peace or Eisenhower dollars, then I could see the benefit of putting them all in the air-tight holders, but can't quite justify the expense (and extra size) for things like a State Quarter album, ATB album, or even a Roosevelt dime or Jefferson nickel album. Thoughts? Michael

I finally completed my Kennedy half dollar set in the caps albums and am vary pleased with the very large and expensive albums. But, I don't ever see you in me getting my complete Washington quarter collection in Caps Albums.

After building a Dansco State Quarters album, I have decided to go the CAPS album route for my albums. I had purchased a Dansco Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickle, and Presidential dollar album, and was starting to build up those sets, but I am going to see if I can sell these on ebay and instead move to the full CAPS albums instead, including the Proofs. Yes, it is going to be a LOT more money, but it just seems to be a better way to manage a few new/growing albums.. Right now, with my Dansco albums, I keep having to fight with those acrylic slides to get to an open "slot" or do a coin "upgrade". And then I have to keep handling the coins each time, and then push it in and out of the album. Yes, I wear gloves and am careful, but it seems that I am always fighting with at least one coin at some point. And I have had coins pop-out of the slots or even slide "between" the cardboard pages and get half-lost..and I worry about the wear/tear on the coins (and the album) as I put coins in and out. And I also am not crazy with all the lint/fuzz that gets onto the slides. Yes, the Dansco albums do look nice and are nice and compact, but I am just not having a lot of luck getting coins in and out... If I put the coin in an Air-Tight holder, then I never need to worry about it getting damaged, plus it will be protected from toning/tarnishing. And with the Caps albums, I can just snap in and out individual coins however I want.. Will make building my album much easier. And I am going to be much more comfortable putting "proofs" or higher-quality coins in a CAPS album knowing they are so well preserved and safe. I think as a long-term approach, the CAPS albums seem to be the best balance of safety, flexibility, and viewability. O nly wish they weren't quite so big and expensive, but guess you get what you pay for... Michael
