@NumisEd, yes it is. Especially for the silver dollars. He never used to melt those, but now they are harder to sell @ $34-35 (Canadian) each.
If the price of silver stayed high for years eventually the market would "get used to it", but it is the sudden and large change that makes people nervous.

Some dealers sent 90% silver coins to refiners back in 1980 and 2011 when silver spot got briefly close to $50. There were a lot more sellers than buyers. I seems the same is starting to happen now with higher silver spot prices. A few dealers on YouTube said they have sent some 90% to refiners, not enough buyers and they need to have income coming in. One dealer on T The Silver Stacker channel recently sent to refiner 2,000 cull/damaged common dates Morgan and Peace dollars. She had no buyers for them in her shop.

This will mess with the population numbers for a lot of coins. And in the long run exert upward pricing pressure on XF, AU and MS coins. Because if someone in the future just wants to buy a cheap low-grade Morgan dollars, well... guess what, they are no longer around. So now this buyer has to move up the ladder.

LCS buying 90% at 25x, selling at 30x. He is mostly wholesaling (not melting) what he buys.

Thanks to all for the recent reports. I haven't been to a show since July and was wondering what the going rates were since this jump in spot.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/326785107989 Right now this guy is selling modern commemorative dollars in lots of 13 or 14 that come out to about $38-$39 an ounce. He has a few listings. I got a lot of 15 for $449.05 shipped.

I came away really surprised (and empty-handed) from a recent antique fair.
Junk George V / VI silver was selling at 20% to 30% over melt, and Victorian junk silver even more.
Where will the madness end?

If you're in a non taxable state like me, it comes out to under $30 per coin and melt is over $34 per coin. The lot I purchased had a 2 coin Dolley Madison and 2 coin Yellowstone set.

Spot climbing higher almost every day, is anyone buying at these prices?
I'm holding out till 50, but 45 isn't a bad price to unload some silver either!
My last show was 2 months ago, so I appreciate the updates from everyone here! Nice to read real-world examples of buy / sell prices

I am still buying what I buy from the Mint, so I always start off in the hole anyway.
