Thanks guys, for your advice. I went through five rolls (picked out a few nice ones) and pulled five unopened ones for myself. I'm done with them. Just don't feel like searching through more than that. I'm leaving a total of 40 unopened rolls and 4 searched ones to sell. Although these are clearly UNC, most of them didn't seem to be in as good shape as the box of '07p I found recently. I think I cherry picked some real good ones there (not to mention the slew of errors I found). Just seemed to be bag marks on most of these '05p. This may not be the case for many of them but I didn't get far enough to find out completely. I found one minor error out of the five rolls I opened. The N in IN GOD WE TRUST was mostly missing. There was a black smudge on the coin in this area. Is this grease from the dies or something? Do you folks have any suggestions on the best venue I should consider for selling these full UNC rolls? Should I just offer them on the for sale pages or auction here? What kind of price do you think should I expect to get out of them? I found a couple of auctions for these on ebay. One just ended this evening for two rolls and the sold price was only 3.25! Whoa! Less than face value. His shipping was 4.60. Hope he/she was able to cover the loss. Don't think I want to go with ebay right now so please let me know what some of you would do yourselves? Thanks for all the help!

Hey Numi,
If that is all that those rolls went for you are better off taking them to the dump bank! Hope for old ones next time, unless you get a box of unopened 2008; I'm sure you could get a premium for those if you sold them very quickly

I am wondering, are these STRING and SONS or DUNBAR rolls or just the bank paper around them? If they are the banks own roll jobs, they would show more toss around bag marks. I'm on the fence now of what to do with them, if I were you, since you say 5 rolls searched were very "nicky"
If that might be the case, I would probably just go through them all and reroll them in the typical flat nickel wrappers and resell them on the internet at 3 bucks each, describe them as MS 60 or better and keep the very best in 2x2's.
If you are rotating rolls at banks, ( I used to go to 4 or 5 banks on my milk route, take nickels I looked through to one for bills and take my bills to another for more rolls ) you might even consider taking what you don't want back to the bank.
I would never just take them back to the bank for a chance at old ones, without first having looked through every nickel. These are UNC's, you know there has to be something good in a whole box.
I don't know if this forum has a for sale section, if it does, maybe you could sell those other 40 rolls for 100.00 (for example) and charge 10.00 for priority shipping insured in a flat rate USPS priority box. Somebody might be interested and you would make your money back.

CND cool find, a 93 S proof in the wild! My brother found a very worn 75 S once and he does not search rolls, his almost was worn to look like a typical P or D and it did not look prooflike anymore. I can see yours has a cameo look to it. Weird!

Wheezy, I don't know what String & Sons or Dunbar wrapped rolls are. Mine have both ends rolled/tucked. The wrapper is brown craft paper with blue lettering around each end. They look similar to the ones on ebay; Item # 380001626080 "10 BU BANK ROLLS 2005P JEFFERSON BISON NICKELS". The differences with the ones I have is the color of the wrapper and there's no lettering running lengthwise along the side of the roll, just around each end. Don't know if this tells you anything about the company that rolled them or not. At this point I might see how many I can get through tonight to look for errors and chioce BU's. Then I'll take them all back to the bank tommorrow because I need the money for something else that can make more money for me (I buy and sell precious metal-bearing scrap items). Maybe then I'll have enough $ to order the box of halves I've been wanting to get . If you are interested in some of these rolls wheezy, I would be happy to set aside no more than 10 rolls for you. Then, once you're up to your 50 posts/14 days, I could sell them to you @ $3.50 per roll, unopened, plus shipping. If you are interested in that deal let me know before tommorow. If anyone else wants some and will take them right away I may do the same deal for you. Since this is my second box of unopened uncirculated nickels, out of just four boxes, I won't be suprised if I come accross more in the near future. I don't think there's anyone else in my area that's searching nickels. Halves are a different story. As for how I'm rotating rolls. I get them at one bank and dump them at a completely different bank. The only time I buy rolls from the same bank is the first time I ever visit that particular bank. But not after I start dumping there. The bank I buy from uses one armored car service (AT Systems) and the rest of the banks in my town use Loomis and Brinks (I think).

Interesting, Numi that you mention Armored car service. I found some information about wrapped rolls. I do not wish to disagree with Xavier as he might be correct that some banks may do this but I think it is the armored car service that does the roll wrapping and only from mint sewn bags. Otherwise, we would find more circulated coins in these brand name wrapped rolls with the "shotgun" crimp. Soon I will be at 50 posts, and since I drooled on your nickels I guess I should take 10 rolls from you. If you are tricky, you can get them shipped in a flat rate priority envelope. I sold many rolls of State Quarters and fit 10 of those in with ease and niks would be smaller yet. The way to ship them is to find a smaller box that will slide inside. Wrap them up in bubble wrap and then tape them up good. I can get a US priority small video box in a priority envelope. If you just ship them loose they bust open (so I've heard). I think my email link is shared here, so feel free to drop me a line. If not I'll pm you. Here's one link http://reviews.ebay.com/BU-Roll-Buy...000001449256Here's a listing of a Dunbar roll, your rolls are probably blue and brown paper or blue and white with some indication of what type company paper was used. http://cgi.ebay.ph/2005-P-Roll-of-4...ls_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/350023058340 target= _blank rel= nofollow 350023058340 /a QQihZ022QQcategoryZ41089QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Hey guys... So, um, I kinda cheated Saturday :( I was out at the Staten Island Coin Show and ended up picking up 38d/38s/39d/39s in F-XF condition for $15. I feel kinda guilty so I'm just gonna confess now lol Also, check out this auction I spotted last night and lost only because I jumped the gun and bid with 15 seconds left.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...N'T.m317.lVI--Gary

Don't feel guilty, Gary... I did the same thing to complete my Jefferson set! Some might say it was impatience, I say it was jumping on an opportunity when you saw it!

You can always replace the bought ones with the future finds. This way you have your set anyway.

Yup thats what I figured....the holes in my book were starting to taunt me. I was talking to the dealer about my nickel search (he was shocked about how many good finds are still readily avaiable btw) and he offered me the 4 early keys at almost half of what he was asking--I had no intention of buying them, but a good deal is a good deal. Needless to say, he bought my allegiance and i'll be sure to pick up a coin or two the next couple times I see him.

This thread sparked some interest for me, so I brought home a $100 box. I must say, it is very enjoyable. I was getting kinda burnt on pennies, so this will be a great change for me. Besides, I dont even have a start on nickels until now I guess :D
Todays finds so far 40 rolls
23 1960 and older. 4 War (45S, 43P, 44P, 45D) 1 Buff (barely read it, but I'm pretty sure its a 1923) Couple canadians and a few hole fillers BU.
Lots of fun so far! :)
