5 rolls today - 5 "keepers" nothing special - 39P, 56dx2, 46P, 53D

Question - should the 38s and 39d be considered harder to find than the 50d due to being older?

No, mainly because the 1950-D was widely hoarded when it was known to be a low mintage issue, while the 1939-D wasn't hoarded a lot until years after issue. Generally, the 1939-D is considered the second hardest to find of the Jeffersons no matter what part of the country you live in. These two have been far and away the toughest two Jeffersons for me to find. I've found 3 of each in all of my years of searching. In my current 2+ year CRH run, I've found 2 of each in about 1 million coins searched.

As for the 1938-S, being a first year issue, a good number were saved. That said, I have the advantage of living on the West coast. I've found around 10 of them in my lifetime. I know they're much harder to find on the East coast, and may be harder for some to find than the 1939-D and 1950-D.

Hey all,
Bought a box yesterday from the bank. Found 2 War Nickels (1943P's), an 1980S impaired proof, a 2009D and 22 pre-60's nickels. 20 rolls in, I found this one:

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

It was obverse up, so I made sure my son saw it before we flipped it. It was in such good shape, I had a feeling we'd see the "D" on the reverse. This is our 2nd 1950D. The other came almost a year ago (July 11th). Very excited to have this in our collection.

Congrats, dadsoncoinhobby! I've found two as well in the past two years, but both were circulated examples. It seems that a lot of the 1950-Ds found in circulation are BUs for some reason.

That is a really nice 1950-d. The two that we have found have been more worn down.

Awesome 1950d! Nickels have been hot lately... found more V than any other year. I've found at least 10 so far this year and only search roughly 2 boxes per week. I had a box 2 weeks ago with 6 wars!
