Gatewest is advertising the "Egg" for $169.00 or best offer. Prices are all over the place. Saw one with asking price of over $200.00

I noticed the price ranges. And some people are of the opinion it's Sold Out! while others selling pre-sales.

According to the Mint's website, they are "awaiting stock". Also the mintage reads 4000? Does the question mark mean they may be increasing the mintage?

JimmyD, just put the mouse over the question mark.

@wildflowerAB, how the "ability to determine the pre-sale markup" would help to anyone? Would someone refuse to buy it, if the markup is too high?

Wow skip3 days and 6 pages get added. I see the pysanka coin on the mint site, it has 1363 views in 24 hrs, incredible. It is awaiting stock. Interesting how this coin was panned earlier and now its a hot topic.
I have a theory, the more members pan a coin on release, it will be successful on the secondary market. Its happened with the moonlight GITD coins and now the pysanka coin. It will be something I will watch this year.
The coin I cant find anywhere is the Parliament coin. Anyone know where to or why it has disappeared. Neither it or the pysanka coin are available from Canada Post, which is interesting.
The great think a few Feb release has caused some buzz and this is always beneficial. It seems I usually miss the good discussion, when I get distracted elsewhere. Remember we need the buzz. It will be interesting to see how the packaging error and pysanka do by next January. I didn't jump on anything as the year is still young.

Was it my imagination or earlier was the Library of Parliament coin being promoted as an % almost sold out? Because a % does not appear now. http://www.mint.ca/store/buy/new-re...ns-cat410002Four of the new releases "awaiting stock". Adding: glad to see RCM's put the Pysanka back up on the New Release list, considering the various other avenues of 2ndary sales/presales in the marketplace.

Quote: That comes before who gets stung. ]Good one Wildflower, I nearly split my sides laughing. However, lately its all too true, who is the next to be stung. Again another wise observation. I wonder how different the releases would of been in 2013 2014, if most collectors had employed the wisdom spouted in the past year. Has anyone noticed if other mints are decreasing mintage or releases. People are pretty witty in this thread.

Thanks Wildflower, when I checked an hour ago, I didn't see the Parliament coin. It would of been better released in 10 yrs for the 150th Anniversary, interesting its awaiting stock at such a high price. I guess to some collectors money is no object. I wonder how many celebrities are coin collectors. I say this as ive been reading up on history of Canadian music, a theme the mint hasn't used yet.
I wonder how the Parliament coin will do on secondary market.

@ pocket change I'm almost certain the Library of Parliament was indicating it to be 81% sold out. Maybe they took the page down to remove it, and that's why it wasn't there when you looked.
As for how it'll do on the secondary market. It depends on how many buyers buy it to add to a collection (thus removed from the buyer/seller market) and how many are bought to resell/flip. Too many resellers, not enough to other buyers who didn't already buy it new, the price drops.
So I'm reflecting on possible reasons why anyone buys this coin to add to a collection..... - collects 140th anniversary coins? (A collection of 1?) - collects government memorabilia, maybe but.... - collects architecture themes? - collects bowl shaped themes? - attractive? - other reasons?
Frankly I can see nothing about it that might indicate it's going to be highly sought after item.

I liked the Parliament coin until Commems pointed out the lack of detail to the wreath and the face of statue, plus the price is outrageous. I doubt its a flipable coin, as issue price already too high! I liked that it is curved and the details not connected to the statue. The antiquing not sure about. The green killed the pysanka for me, it just doesn't belong.
Its amazing how just a few details being off can kill interest in a coin. A collection of architectural coin could be very interesting. Much better than a pizza coin.
