The silver melt value today is $12.60. It was over $13 yesterday. You thought you were getting at least 10 X 12 in melt alone, but in actuality you got (5 X 8)+(2 X 12) in melt. I don't know the numismatic value of your Peace and Morgan but there are mistakes that are a lot worse than this.

I could see myself doing the same thing over a deal on 1965 Kennedy halves, thinking I'm getting all silver. Luckily for you, you can get your money back.

You are bidding on (1) half roll (10 coins) of Silver Dollar. These are mixed (1) Morgan, (1) Peace and (8) silver Ike dollars (the specially minted silver ones, not the clads, mostly 1971-S). This silver dollar roll has HUGE potential for retail value, especially with our economy on the brink of a recession, Silver could go THROUGH THE ROOF
-----------

The wording is a tad short here, but I see nothing wrong really. He means that they are not the copper nickel clad but the silver ones.... which are silver clad..

Lets see

Coin flation lists the 40% ikes at $5.4107 silver value each
Peace and Morgan weigh in at $13.2337.

So doing some math.

Eight 40% Ikes
$43.2856

Two 90% Silver Dollars
$26.4674

Grand total of
$69.753 for melt value.

Now these coins can be worth more for their collectible value, lets do some ballpark figures.

Silver Uncirculated Ikes usually go for around $8 dollars each, maybe a couple more dollars if it's really nice.

VG peace and Morgan dollars can go for plus or minus 18 dollars. Much more for nice grades

I would say you paid a tiny bit much.... but you were not "taken to the cleaners" thats reserved for really getting taken.

Worse case you have sliders for the 90%, even then the Ikes did not usually circulate or get beat up. they are probably still worth 8 each.

Best case yours are worth more, especially if the dealer missed a VAM Morgan dollar. Post some pictures...

Where does it say in the auction the coins are solid silver?

Also where does it say special strike? I'm missing something here probably. If I were you I'd return them. Then I'd take the $100 and look for a nice uncirculated Morgan or Peace dollar at my local coin shop.JMO

"here is a link to the auction. I am awefully prone to my brain just shutting out relevant parts of titles and such, as in this auction my brain shut out everything after morgan and Peace dollars....."

Sometimes we just need to slow down and read it a couple of times before bidding.

I see nothing wrong with the auction, but since the seller has a return policy you have the right to return the mistake you made!

Another lesson to be learned here - the first task of an ebay buyer is to research the Feedback of someone from whom they wish to purchase. The seller in this circumstance has 99.1% Positive Feedback. Not bad, right? Well, looked at more closely, he's averaging almost two Negatives and two Neutrals a month, ten in the last month alone. This seller is sliding downward. I wouldn't risk buying from him.

" Ike dollars (the specially minted silver ones, not the clads, mostly 1971-S)"

A good seller should have clarified: Silver-Copper Clad versus Copper-Nickel Clad. To say "specially minted silver," although misleading, is not an outright lie. I do not see where it said they were solid silver, which would be a lie, even for 90% Morgans.

Not to slam the buyer, but it cannot be stressed enough: know what you are buying. Take this as a lesson learned. If you get stuck with them, hold on to them for a while, they should appreciate in the long run.
