My opinion, it's totally fitting to include them considering several of the NCLT commemorate the circulation series. I've chosen to add PL SD from uncirculated sets starting at 1961 to 1967 instead, partly because of various circulation strike varieties and others are in ICCS flips.

Does anybody have the painted 2016 in hand yet?
As a collector of everything $1 I know I have to buy it but I am disappointed the mint has gone this way.

I was hoping that the RCM wouldn't take the lazy "painted coin" route with the SDs, but it appears they had to mess with tradition. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. I received my proof set today and SD totally exceeds my expectations. The dark painted background is not as prominent as in the photos. The design is extremely well done in my opinion. The dark background at a distance creates almost a 3D effect by highlighting the upfront images, the sails and the brilliant (silver) sky. The overall symmetry is in perfect balance as well. My conclusion is it's impossible to photograph this coin! This meagre attempt may put me in the running for the worst CCF photo ever. But see the reflection of both my finger and black camera lens on the imperfectly focused upper half of the coin? That's all the sky area and the silver is so highly polished that it's absolutely mirror like. That polished area also serves as a background to the delicate sails. So I give up, no way can a direct shot be taken without it reflecting whatever it's facing.  If anyone is able, once their coin is in hand, I'd be curious to know the technique.  |

sounds not realistic, but instead of DSLR try with iPhone or any other phone. Put the coin bit an angle and not as close...just crop after the picture, Will be way better  |

As a matter of fact I've ordered the simple little gadget that's supposed to enable an iPad or iPhone to take close up photos. I have high hopes it works as well as it's supposed to. Otherwise my macro camera setting generally takes pretty good photos except the process of downloading photos to my computer from my camera is very cumbersome. But great idea Silveroid! Although I did try taking the photo at an angle, even outside where the lighting was better, my frustration peaked after successfully capturing the reflection of my neighbours house. But maybe if I'd laid the SD flat it would reflect the blue sky.  |

I understand that the Mint is considering issuing a 2017 SD that will be made to order. That is, they will offer them for pre-order for a few months, and then create as many as were ordered (and no more).
This is quite a change in process (not unlimited, but mintage is unknown when you order) and could shake up the large silver dollar collector community.
Opinions?

Kind of like some of the US NCLT, Kennedy gold was sold to a certain date with a max mintage on the onset of sales, rather have a known mintage at the beginning of sales.

In the US version it seems most are trying to get a perfect graded 70 and return the rest, I doubt it helps the value like the silver dollar mc coin
