Quote: means, collectors have a chance till june(?) to load them to get the Platinum MC, and be quick to grab the 1936-2016 2oz Voyageur coin
I wonder if members beyond MC Prestige and Platinum Plus will even get a crack at the next Voyageur coin if we believe the email sent by reps. It said the customers in the top two tiers will get to buy the coins before anyone else and the remaining tiers get whatever is left. We don't know how many MC members in the top 2 tiers. If there are around 2000, yes, people in the lower tiers will not get it. This time everyone will on the alert for it, no fence sitting about it, so they will go pretty fast. Of course, it would depend on how stringent the RCM enforce the rules. Last time the rules were not enforced as queue jumpers were able to get it.

Aren't they only doing the six commemorative silver dollars for the renewed silver dollar series? If that's the case, one would expect to see the Canadian Goose done next in gold plating with the double date 1967-2017.

Quote: Aren't they only doing the six commemorative silver dollars for the renewed silver dollar series? this sounds very reasonable, but this could in 2017, which is in any way expected to be the year full of issues (wouldn't surprise if the number will be close to 500). But in 2016 have to be exclusive MC coins as well, and 1936-2016 Silver Dollar looks as simple solution.

Quote: But in 2016 have to be exclusive MC coins as well, and 1936-2016 Silver Dollar looks as simple solution. My thoughts 1936 SD was not a commemorative and the reverse is identical to 1935. So not going to have 1936, Even if it is 80 years since, IMO. Where the first coin was 1935 replica and 1st commemorative Dollar commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the reign of King George V. Next Commemorative in Silver Dollar history was the 1939 SD, commemorating the Royal Visit to Canada, with Parliament Building on Reverse. Seeing patriotism in this replica. Should be a nice gold contrast, and King George VI on obverse, no crown. Next 1949 Replica - ship in gold, should be beautiful, Newfoundland enters Canada Then 1958 Replica - Totem in gold should also be nice, 100 years since BC enters Canada Then 1964 Replica - Charlottetown/Quebec Centennial, ho hum Finally 1967 Replica - Best for last, Replica of Coleville Goose Dollar - Centennial of Canada

I notice that RCM promotes the 2oz issue as the "Renewed Silver Dollar Series", which might indicate the release of issues will deviate from the traditional manner of applicable years connected to commemorative/anniversary. I'd hope in the future the same series of 1oz/36mm will be issued because that truly aligns with a silver dollar collection. Otherwise for me personally, I'm not interested in any variances of sizes beyond the original. The rainbow Weather Phenomenon sounds interesting - I don't recall RCM producing a rainbow on a coin ever before.....

@ SilverDon, I notice the six that you've identified also capture all four of the different effigies as well.
So I agree, those six in totality highlight all the various features of the silver dollars series between the years 1935-1967.

In 2012 or 2013 RCM had subscription named Canada Vintage Dollars, which included these 6 coins with the box. Each Silver Dollar priced CAD 64 (if I remember correctly). I wanted this sub, but decided to find them by myself....as later discovered, in order to get the coin in the condition that I like, have to pay more than CAD 60 per coin But anyway, I still see in the 2oz 1936 - 2016 Silver Dollar simple solution for MC Exclusive coin. With the mintage of 2000 units, people will "eat" this.

Three of the commemorative coins in Proof Like
strikes, the cost of a PL 1949 is high (if such a thing exists, there is debate). The coins above are business strikes. I like the proof like strikes, frosted devices on mirror fields. Gold gilding would really be a nice contrast on these.

From the images I'm seeing on ebay, it appears the day that I have dreaded for the last several years has come to pass - the RCM has extended its "laziness" to the commemorative silver dollar series. The SD included in the upcoming Special Edition proof set does not appear to be a fully-engraved coin, it makes use of a 2-D painted image for the main design element (the SS Great Eastern) with 3-D engraving used only for the coin's foreground design elements. I had been hoping that the RCM wouldn't mess with its most traditional and long-standing commemorative coin and that it would leave this type of lazy die work to other coins in its portfolio. I'll reserve final judgment until I see the coin firsthand and verify what I'm seeing in the pre-release images, but, if my suspicions are confirmed, this coin could be the beginning of the end for me in terms of my maintaining a complete collection of Canada's SDs.

I was agree with the main line of the Commems' post. But then on the other forum, people did a research (thanks a lot!) and found: Silver coin (.925) with painted animated Rabbit on it (this is probably parallel to our Beaver or something like that) goes on ebay for GPB 500.....unbelievable. No new technology, no special craftsmanship or minting effort, no large metal content, no low mintage. So, RM just painted (sticker?) rabbit on the coin, and UK people crazy about it, while RCM tries to do serious work, but since over-flooded the market, people do not really accept the coins.

There's a bit more to it than that. It's a popular children book character. that being said, I didn't think it would do that well consider the 15k mintage and sterling silver. It was the reason I didn't buy any. Plus other children books character on the coin has not done well.

I like the mother earth coin.... 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin - Mother Earth FIRST-EVER coin for the Royal Canadian Mint's with a unique 3D dome effect in the shape of a water droplet! Whether an animal lives on land, dances among the waves, or soars high in the sky, it is dependent upon Mother Earth and the precious water she provides. For a nation like Canada, with endless lakes, rivers, wetlands and streams, it can be easy to take such an aquatic bounty for granted. It is a precious gift that must be respected and protected. We are all one great family interwoven in the web of life. And Earth is our Mother. But she is nothing without life-giving water. Mintage: 7,000. $104.95 | $20 | 99.99% pure silver | proof | 31.39 g | 38 mm | serrated | Alexandra Lefort
