By coincidence, just earlier today I placed an order for an Antoninus Pius denarius. My specimen is, as yours appears to be, rather oblong. I'll post it on this forum when it arrives. Normally is Providentia represented as a woman with a scepter , or , on coins of Hadrianus , as an eagle giving a scepter to the emperor . As providentiae deorum means :thanks for the care the gods have for the emperor and the represention is a thunderbolt , often an attribute of Jupiter , it is a coin thanking all the gods and especially Jupiter for his care for the welfare of Antininus the Pious;albert Report this Post to the Staff
