Very nice!
Sounds like a fun project pulling them out over time. Plus, it sounds like your technique won't damage the coins. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing more!

After you have patiently taken all of the coins out over a period, weigh the empty jar. Then re fill it with junk silver, it would make an ideal receptacle for such.

Well, I have about 2/3rds of it emptied. Haven't checked everything yet, but so far have about 90 washingtons, about 35 SLQ's, 4 barbers for quarters. 25 ish roosies, 200 mercs, 5 Barber dimes. 80 30's and War Nickels, 25 ish buffalos, and 10 V nickels. The washingtons seem to be the best coins. Lotta AU/MS ish. Best find that I noticed is a AU/MS 1939-S, but I have to check em yet. Some blazers in the mercs, but all later dates 1939-1942 ish. Some nice buffalos, but need to check dates. SLQ's suffer from date loss. 2 1917 type 1's. Quite a few S and D MM's, but lack of dates. Best key find so far is that 1909-O quarter yet.

Funny story. I'm sitting here going through the bank coins. There was some pocket change in the bag of coin stuff the bank was in. I let my 8 year old daughter go through it to fill her coin books All the sudden she yells "oh my god, it's a large cent!"
In my head, I'm like "yeah right" she brings it over and sure nuff...it's an 1853 large cent lol. I have no idea how it got in there, but I just put it in a 2x2 and said "don't lose it" lol.

I got through the Jefferson nickels last night. There was only 1 War Nickel in there and I let me daughter have it for here book. There was 106 Jeffersons. Besides like 5 they were all AU/BU 1939, 1940, and 1941 P's. Now these are not normally anything super special. Some nice coins for the Dansco, but 1939's did have 2 reverses and wouldn't ya know it. I have mostly reverse of 38's which are rare for Philly mint. I didnt't count yet, but there were around 60 1939's 30 1940's and 10 1941's. Oh and there was 1 BU 1938. I'll try and post a pic of a nicer 1939 rev of 1938 at some point.

So basically ordinary circulation coinage from 70 years ago with some oddball stuff thrown in.
Isn't it fun how "that's just what was in my pocket" becomes cool with age?

So far pretty much, except the mid 30's to say 1942 coinage is AU/MS. There are some really nice 37-41 Washington quarters and about 75 of the 350 or so mercs are nice from the same time period. There were 97 Washington quarters. The best I found so far was a BU 1939-S, only about 5 of the Washingtons were non philly. There were 36 Standing Liberties, and 5 Barbers. I Haven't got through the SLQ's yet, but most seem dateless. The 1909-O was a nice surprise from the barbers. There was just under a roll of Buffalos in there I need to look at as some were quite nice. My Dad was born in 1939 which could explain the frequency of the date.
