1994 Double Die And Machine Doubling Can You Verify

marymanard Valued Member United States 111 Posts	Posted 08/19/2016 01:59 am so I know there is definately Machine Doubling on this penny. but I am fairly certain it also has double die. it is most obvious in the 4 of the date, and the S in god we trust. but its there in all the in god we trust I think. and in the 9's of the date are harder to see... I am not a photographer... I hope my pics are good enough.... I apologize for the string one on of the images... any thoughts? I really appreciate your help Thank you! Report this Post to the Staff

The strike was so strong it broke through the plating leaving the zinc exposed. That may also be an issue with the lower loop of the 'S' as well. I see gray there also. Report this Post to the Staff
sonchild Valued Member United States 83 Posts	Posted 08/21/2016 12:03 am There does appear to be some doubling, but that's from the old die and loose pieces that may have allowed the die to rotate a little in between strikes. You can tell it's definitely not a doubled die because doubled die errors have rounded peaks, whereas varieties and mint damage have more shelf like, flat tops. Report this Post to the Staff
