My wife and I were recently given 42 of these ranging in dates from 1879 to 1921. Can anyone point me in a direction of trying to figure out what we have. Not interested in selling, just more informational purposes at the moment. There are in an old paper/cardboard collectors folder. I have attached a picture of one of the folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that's quite a gift! They look in great shape, and some could be rather valuable, so please be careful in handling them. I'd wear cotton gloves. To find out what you have, you'll need to pop them out (one-by-one) to discover the mintmark (if any) on the reverse (under the wreath and above the DO in dollar). Could be a D, S, O, CC, or none. Write down the date and mintmark of each coin on a sheet of paper. I recommend buying the Official Red Book (by Yeoman) to help you assess the grade and find the approximate value. There are on-line resources for this too. You'll also need to decide how to store them: back into the folders, in 2x2's, in airtites, an album, etc. There's much more to consider, but this is a start. Oh, and to the CCF!!

to the CCF! Very nice collection! You came to right place to learn. I would recomend you get this book. https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Book-M...+dollar+bookShop around for best price. This edition is Pre-order as it isn't out quite yet. But you can find the 4th edition out as well. The book gives you a lot of information on your Morgans, but I wouldn't pay too much attention to the prices listed in this book. Have fun learning and again Welcome!!

to CCF. All the information offered above is great and I would add that you not attempt to clean any of the coins. They are worth much more as is.

Thank you all for the info. I was wondering about the condition of them (as far as cleaning and such)but planned on leaving as is. These belonged to my wife's grandfather and her dad recently passed them on to her. I will pick up the book mentioned above. I will try and get some close up pics of them all eventually and share for comments and such. We were given a ton of coins just kind of sorting through them at the moment. There is a supposed "steel" penny in the collection somewhere. The majority of them were not kept in an orderly fashion.
John1, I noticed that also after posting the pic. We have several of those as well. I'll have to swap it out. Good eye.

Also, put a piece of tissue paper between the second and 3rd pages to prevent further possible rubbing. Nice mini date set
