The one and only reason I bought this next National is my love for the NBC hit mockumentary The Office (2005-2013) and the city in Pennsylvania that the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company branch headed by Michael Scott took place.

Don't forget Michael Scott's "Assistant Manager" Dwight Schrute.

Susuman - Both of your notes are just sensational - we seldom see these series or denominations on the forum. In fact, I can't ever remember seeing an '02DB $100. Congrats. Fuzzy - Nice notes as well.

Susuman - As you know, the $100 note is quite a scarce item; the last Kelly census shows only one other example.

Coinfrog - Thank you for your kind words. About 5 years ago I researched the $100 note and there was one note listed, so this would be the second.
I have absolutely no clue as to value on something like this. It has been in the family since at least the late 1940's.

My New Years gift. Seattle is somewhere we have wanted to go visit - so I am assuming this is a subtle reminder that we need to do that. Susuman and Fuzzy - great notes. This is certainly a magnificent thread!

I am not a National collector, but I love to see them and this thread has been great to scroll through! I got a major education about large size Nationals when I helped transcribe for the Smithsonian's digital collection. Now I have a question regarding charter numbers -- or more specifically letters. I notice some large size notes include letters with their charter number overprints, while others don't. If I may repost a couple from Hadjuk, you can see the that although these have the same charter number, the Public NB shows a blue "E", while the Public NB & Trust does not. Can some explain what the letters indicate?

The letters represent geographical sections of the country. A note from New York would have an "E" for East. A note from Dallas would have a "S" for South. A note from Los Angeles would have a ""W" for West. And so on.
The large letters were to help the Treasury employees sort notes more easily when they were redeemed and credited to the issuing bank's liability.
