Right - Can you even comprehend what a scramble it must have been at the Treasury (not to mention the BEP) over the decades-long issuance of national bank notes?
GregAlex and scopru - Nice notes, and I agree - this is a super thread.

Great notes everybody. A hometown note I bought just because I have never owned a FINE note with PPQ/EPQ. It's in an original style PCGS holder, and has poor margins but original paper qualities.

The Tampa Terror strikes again!
Yes, the PQ paper designation on Fine notes has always been something of a head-scratcher to me.

Fairly common in circulated grades, but this Fr. 745 (Elliott-Burke, with Clerk-Calkins bank sigs) is tough in CU. This is an early CGA holder with perfect reverse centering and perhaps a hair off on front top, but I think it would make 65PQ at PMG.

Excellent FBRN/National Currency note Mr.Frog.
The "Money Shot" for this series is the stunning engraving on the back. A Majestic Eagle in flight, wings spread holding a flag pole and Old Glory in it's talons. Great series to collect. There are close to 40 FR #'s if you include stars.

Scarce note from Orange, VA. Picked up at the recent FUN auctions. Nice problem free example.

Wow, I sure like these Nationals. Here is one that I don't think I have posted previously, a 1902 plain back $5 note. The Exchange National Bank of Spokane was chartered in 1889 became defunct in 1929. This note is in really bad shape, I am not sure what grade it might be. There are lots of notes of this charter still around.
