All three of these came from the same handful of change.
They don't all have the same cracks, but they are in the same area of the coin. They must have had the pressure turned up I'm guessing(?),or just weak points in the die?

Well,I doubt that they are worth anything above the 10 cents in value.I just thought it odd I found three dimes in the same change with similar cracks and thought I'd share.
Thanks for looking.

I save all die cracks I find. Not because they are more than face value, but because its fun to compare and contrast them. I do the same with coins that are struck off center (by even 1-2mm).

They may have been all from the same die pair.

I don't Think so.On My computer I can look at them side by side and none of the cracks match up.
I guess I need to learn how to do side by sides.

Thanks mike!Yeah,it looks like they just came out of the roll, when the Wife brought them home.
I use a Cannon,EOS Rebel T5.With the standard 18-55mm lens, and a copy stand RedGreen would be proud of.
I mainly use axial lighting.Which consist of a piece of clear plastic taped to a 45 degree carpenter square. Not sure exactly what they are called.

There is a (very small) die chip on the rim by the top of the head area, that is on both coins. So the die cracks may have increased. So the one with more die crack will have been struck later in this dies life. They probably did turn up the pressure. A die crack is the start of the issue, then more appear. It kind of like a nail in your tire. It may take time for it to go flat, or it just goes flat quickly. The weight of your car did change. The event on how it happened could have been different. So die can fail slowly or quickly. It just happens.

Okay, kinda like a windshield of a car.A tiny chip from a rock starts it,the heater on one side of the glass and the cold of winter on the other.Depending on how cold(pressure on the blank) it is outside, determines how fast the crack advances.
Thanks coop!
