The thin copper plating is peeling off.

Belt grinder? Orbital sander? I don't see a rim on the worn portion of the coin, which leads me to believe it's not just a lamination flaw. I just threw back a Zincoln that was ground flat against the sander. Rim was exposed zinc, as was a portion of his head.

Probably spent some time on the ground. I have a few with similar issues, and that's where they came from

Even seen where the coin roller spinners put too much pressure on a weakly plated zincoln (not fully adhered) and I peeled the plating off, like a washer! Should have saved it for an example, went in the return bag immediately! Oops!

Am I seeing same on reverse same place?
