Not to rock the boat or anything, but Reagan is widely considered responsible for the incredible National Debt that we and future generation of Americans will have to deal with. The National Debt contributes to the weak dollar, among other things. Reagan spent like crazy so we could wipe out the former Soviet Union. Yes the collapse occurred after he left, but it was already underway. Trickle down economics- HA! I am in the lower middle class and at that time, no money trickled into my pocket. I was barely able to make ends meet. I would never want to honor someone who was so irresponsible with the nation's budget, sorry to say. I don't think there is any president from the last 40 years who deserves to be on coinage. Carter? Terrible president. Don't get me started on the Bushies. Nixon? Scandalous! Clinton? Good president but marked with scandals. Our founding fathers would be devestated to see what our country has become! I personally think there is no one honorable enough to be on US coinage, except symbolic figures, like Lady Liberty.

Jbuck........ Yes, you're absolutely right !.....Nancy Reagan was even OFFENDED when they mentioned putting him on the dime and the "pre-mature" talk of putting his likeness on Mount Rushmore......though it was determined that no further carving could be put there because of the condition of the granite...Even Reagan Democrats wouldn't have ever let that one go over though! Hee Hee She was there for the christening of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan.....and the military ALWAYS had a high affection for him........etc. etc. etc. ....I could go on and on.....but you're definitely right...... HE would not have wanted that.....I just meant that "I" WANTED THAT ! Ha Ha LoL Obviously I vehemently disagree with others disparaging viewpoints and summations and opinions of the Reagan Presidency...( ie Mycrob Ha Ha)..so I won't enter into a debate on it...That has a tendency to get off subject and into politics and this is the wrong forum for that! ..LOL ..... REMEMBER : OPINIONS ARE LIKE "FINGERS"....EVERYBODYS GOT SOME!....

I like the movers and shakers. ie..Henry Ford. "AMERICANS" who have made a difference in our current lives. How about Great war veterans? Or what about a run of places like Empire State Building, Hoover Dam etc?

I'd like to see some other Americans besides Presidents on coins. How about: Paul Revere Betsy Ross General Custer Daniel Boone Thomas Edison Albert Einstein Henry Ford the list could go on and on. I'd also like to see some more Native American designs, I've always liked the Buffalo nickel and the IH penny.

LOL mfrank you cracking me up None of the founders would have wanted to be on a coin--it goes against everything they fought for. Washington said it himself. And how about Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill? He hated central banks...HATED them lol. Funny how these things work out. quote: How about: Paul Revere Betsy Ross General Custer Daniel Boone Thomas Edison Albert Einstein Henry Ford the list could go on and on.
good list bmamofnbc...Einstein would make an excellent choice. E=MC2 on the rim like the new dollars. That'd be something

I vote for Alan Greenspan, if it wasn't for guys like him we wouldn't have all these worthless dollars laying around in the vaults propping up the value of our metals!

quote: Albert Einstein
I don't think he would ever make it to a circulating coin since he was not born in the US, most of his major contributions to the world came before he ever moved to the US, and he was only a US citizen for 15 years before his death. Not a knock on Al as I was a major physics geek as a kid and had two Einstein posters on my wall and 4-5 books. However, he would be an excellent choice for a commemorative About the only other President I can think of for a coin other than Reagan(too soon, maybe in a couple decades) would be Theodore Roosevelt. After all, he is the only one on Rushmore without coin or currency.

Just my opinion, but due to the bullet in the head thing, I think Lincoln and Kennedy should remain honored on US coins, I think Kennedy should be moved to the nickel, since Halfs are "Not intended for circulation" anymore. I think McKinnely and Garfield (the other assasinated presidents) should have a chance on a bill or coin other than the President dollar series. Besides those ideas, I think we should bring Liberty back for the Dime. (The Mercury dime has always been my favorite series) And since I am on my soap box, I think that the mint should stop minting things that are "NIFC". Just my 3 cents though....
