Lembafc Valued Member Korea, Republic Of 489 Posts	Posted 02/16/2017 07:50 am ~~I am not sure why people call these moon/mun coins. Mun coins didn't hit until 1886~~. They are Dang 5 Jeon coins. More specifically this is 18.355 (Korean Coin ID Number) Dang 5 Jeon #3 (not 18.355A/B) and worth about 5,500 won (~$5) minted ~1883 as the fella up top stated. This coin was minted at the Ministry of Finance Mint; possibly also called Board of Revenue, but I am translating what the Korean says. Edit: I have corrected myself. Mun is right. In the case of the coin name Dang 5 Jeon, jeon literally means 'coin' and not the fractional currency of Jeon :) Edited by Lembafc 02/16/2017 08:01 am Report this Post to the Staff
