Sure that 3 cent piece was part of a bracelet. Proof it is possible to love coins too much.
Makes sense.

i agree.

sent those pix to my uncle in miami and he was totally disgusted that anyone would drill a coin in such a way. I concur.

I've had it for so long I cannot remember where I got it.

I have you all beat. Nobody can beat my worst coins. They are so bad they deserve a place in my collection to beat anyone in these competitions lol. These are both vandalized and mutilated mixed with some natural corroded ones found metal detecting. I got rid of most of my cut pennies as my bank gladly took them. I found a nickel once with the F bomb written in sharpie and a Weiner drawn on the back but I spent that years ago. Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Rotting Zincolns. I call them Zombie pennies. Makes a good Halloween decoration idea. Anyone asks just say they are zombie cents.Mix them with uninfected pennies and it'll spread too! Here's a dime I found today that's reduced to a slug. Still worked in a pop machine though!!

If you're going to drill a hole in a coin, please at least ensure that it doesn't destroy the last two digits of the date!

I'm afraid I vandalised this particular coin myself. In 2006 I acquired a second-hand office swivel chair. The back rest had an annoying habit of sliding down while I was sitting on it. There was a kind of screw that held the backrest in a groove, and I reckoned that I could fix the chair by jamming something into the groove and then turning the screw hard down to jam the backrest into the required position. I'd just come back from Japan and had some Japanese loose change on my desk. Almost without thinking (though I did check the date first!) I forced a Japanese 1-Yen coin into the groove and then screwed the backrest down onto it. It served its purpose perfectly until I got a new chair 10 years later...

When I chucked out the old chair, this fell out!
