Got my usual box of half dollars today and to my surprise there was a roll of gold dollars in it. Didn't find any silver, but I was up $15 in profit to start with. Has anyone else found an entire roll of wrong denomination coins before in a box? No pictures, its nothing worth looking at.

Check those gold dollars for edge errors. There are many in the Sacagawea/Native and POTUS series.

Sounds like a nice bonus.

How were the rest, was it a skunk box or did it prove to be even more worthwhile?

The rest of the box was junk. There was a seriously impaired proof, I only kept it because I'm keeping a tally for the year, then I'll dump that one. No edge errors on the dollars.

Nice! Close to when I first started roll hunting, I got about around 3 or 5 rolls...I think! Of dollar coins when I was supposed to get halves. The next day I took them back and told them what had happened and they were very happy.

I now have a good relationship with that bank!

I've never found gold dollars. But, I found a very shiny gold 1979 Kennedy half! I assume it's gold plated. I have no idea what it is worth.

Well, I suppose it was good for something.

It is worth fifty cents, but it is still a fun find. I keep them myself.

I've found a gold plated 1972 half dollar. Even though it's not worth very much it's still fun to keep it! jbuck, I think they're worth at least 51 cents because of the gold value!

The gold plated Kennedy was the only keeper out of two $500 boxes. Silver coins in the wild are few and far between down here in FL.
