Quote: They better buy some more warehouse space. Won't really need to since these will not be made for circulation, just for mint and proof sets and whatever roll sets and bags they manage to sell directly to collectors. So for the most part these coins will not add to the dollars currently in storage.

I agree.
They finally realized that dollar coins and notes would not coexist in circulation. Unfortunately, they killed off the wrong one.

Since the Senate amended the issuance order of these coins to be the same as was for the State Quarters, we have DE, PA, NJ and GA to look forward to for next year. Hopefully there will be no more than a $4 price increase for the proof set and a $8 increase for the mint set. I guess I will end up collecting them as I get the annual sets each year, but probably wouldn't if they were a separate issue.

The light weight proof sets were fun while they lasted. Two whole years.

Even those weren't completely lightweight, they still have 5 proof quarters. And the mint sets have ten.

I should have said lighter weight. The single lens proof set will probably never be back.

Do you think the US Mint will also treat us to a new series of "Innovation Dollar" First Day Covers? I know the Presidential dollar FDCs are doing real well in the aftermarket... NOT.

I know at least one of us here collects the presidential FDCs.

So are these only going to be available in mint and proof set lenses? Was hoping they would do something similar to the Annual Dollar Coin set.
Any mention of when we can expect to see these?

The telemarketers are already drooling over their 1000% markup on the bags they will get from the bank.

There most likely won't be any bags or boxes from the bank.
If the annual dollar sets sold well I'm sure they will continue them. It's more money for them.

Quote: I know at least one of us here collects the presidential FDCs. Actually, jbuck, there are at least two members who collected the Presidential dollar FDCs. I also bought the State Quarter FDCs. But if there are plans for Innovator Dollar FDCs, I think I'll pass. Not so much because they'd likely lose value like the previous FDCs, but because I don't need to be starting yet another project.

It is always possible that the dollar coin set will make a return. Quote: But if there are plans for Innovator Dollar FDCs, I think I'll pass. Quote: It is always possible that the dollar coin set will make a return. I'd go so far as to say it's likely, with 6 $1 coins annually for the next 14 years. I also collected the Statehood FDCCs and the Pre$ FDCCs, but I will stop there. Yes, they aren't worth anywhere near the issue price, but they're educational and fun to flip through. However I don't have any more room on my shelf for albums such as these. And, like you, I don't really want to start a 14-year project. At least, I say this now....
