There are a few SP70 NGC ( ANA) sets on the bay for BIN $275. One seller has already sold 42. I also saw a PCGS set (FIRST STRIKE Flag label) for BIN $265. Not bad.

Quote: And there's still 9 other coins in that set. And how many Lincoln or Kennedy collectors are out there VS Rossies? This set is a no-brained long-term hold. Agreed. Quote:Now waiting for October and those darn medals. Same here. My threshold for pain (that is, the price) went up once I found out they emulate the 2014 Kennedy set.

This might be a dumb question bc I'm enjoying the look of the EU on this set, but is there any reason why not to release an EU ASE? I'm not a buyer of most mint releases, so my knowledge might be way off, but I think it would look awesome on the ASE. They could have thrown a EU ASE into this set and jacked the price to $99 and I don't think anyone would have flinched to buy instantly

And as a full disclosure.. I had no plans on buying this set until the hype of following this thread heated up and I'll admit I didn't have much appreciation or knowledge of EU look until I started seeing the pictures get posted and my set finally arrived. This is a great looking set and I'm all in on past/future EU releases .. even tempted to jump in and add a graded set and some of those sweet Kennedy's being posted

Quote: This is exactly why I have been buying NGC SP70 sets. I know the label doesn't mean much to most here BUT it has all the "words"...SP70 Enhanced Finish...First Day of Issue...ANA Release Individuals taking legitimate advantage of an established system for profits is wise. The beef I have with the TPGs is not that they are in business to make profit - hey - capitalism made America the most prosperous nation there has ever been. The beef I have is the mass perpetuating/belief that TPGs are essential and an incredibly valuable asset to coin collecting. I would respect them if they would become accountable - however they then would need some other marketing strategies to keep in business. Integrity should be first in any legitimate business that is a factual asset to the hobby.

Quote: But let's face it, a 2017 Ike is almost as silly as expecting to find a 1970, or a 1975 Ike...right? The only 1970 Ike I was able to locate was a Newspaper Archive Photo from 12/31/1970 informing the public of the new Dollar Coin. Since I have not read every post on this thread, I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed that for a Uncirculated Dollar, is has a Proof Edge from a Three-segmented Die Collar used for Proof Dollars. When checking my 2017 Mint Set Dollar Coins, found the P & D Sets have different up & down edge alignment, one is right side up, and the other upside down, normal for circulated examples. After originally placing my order for 2 EU Sets the minute they went on sale, I was thinking that I should have ordered additional Mint Sets as the "P" mint marked Cent should also be a one-year type, but didn't as I wanted to get my order processed ASAP. When it was noted here 2 days later that more sets had become available, I ordered 2 more plus 2 @ 2017 Mint Sets, and now happy I did as all 10 Coins in each set are perfect, the BEST Quality I have seen in a regular Mint Set.

I just assumed it would be that way. They would not risk damaging the finish by running them through the roller to apply the edge lettering as they do on normal business strikes.

The only 1970 Ike I was able to locate was a Newspaper Archive Photo from 12/31/1970 informing the public of the new Dollar Coin. This was an inside joke between Darth and I. We both own Daniel Carr overstirkes of a 1970 and a 1975 Eisenhower dollar. Although some people hate them, they have become rather valuable novelty items. I like to see if my friends notice the unusual dates when they see them.

Follow up on buying SP70 sets; From Coin World: Quote: One NGC Specimen 70 First Release set of all five quarter dollars offered in the 10-coin numismatic product sold for $192.50. Close to the cost of all 10 SP70 coins
