Hello All! Three part question : 1: How do you like this morning's 2 euro purchase in an antique market in Italy? 2: What grade would you give this coin? 3: Is it worth getting graded/what would the difference in a sale value be?

Nice purchase for only $2.28. I guess VF20-25. Not the prettiest color, coin has probably spent some of it's life underground. Environmental damage.

I went to town with my camera and worked until I got some more decent pics. was thinking VF20 was a bit LOW.

The coin has AU sharpness, but would need some mint luster under the toning to get that grade. I once submitted to deeply toned to Seated quarter similar to this piece to NGC for grading when I was a dealer. It was totally original, but they body bagged it for the toning. I still got a decent price for it from a dealer who bought it raw. My guess is that it is now in a holder with a straight grade.

Agree AU sharpness but problems with the coloring. Good buy for sure.

Looks like it's a RPD. I believe the value is probably north of $200.00 USD. Should be an easy sell.

Hi @Numismatic_Student! What details lead you to believe this coin has been cleaned? I was personally struck by what appeared to be a dark, original patina!

The second set of pictures looks like the coin's color was altered but the 1st set of pics the coin looks original. Perhaps an acetone soak wouldn't hurt.
