BTW...if you already have a silver proof set then you can save some cash and just buy the S proof. Over the last two weeks I have bought some PF69's between $86-99.

That could make things interesting. What if people hold off buying the LE set because of this and the mint doesn't make the full quantity?

@Foxwoods Man. You were able to get the S proof Eagle between 86-99? I can't seem to find one below 112! I might just get the Limited edition set but I do want to keep my graded proof set together.

I just received an email from ModernCoinMart.com. They're offering $85 profit for those who order two sets for them. That puts their cost at about $182.50. I don't know what they'll sell them for, but that seems pretty optimistic to me given the current $115 to $135 ( ebay) selling price for the Congratulations set.

BTW, if you want a good laugh, take a look at the sold listings of the 2016 Congratulations Set. They're in the $1,500+ range. What's really interesting is that people are paying these prices for slabbed coins that are labeled as being from the 2016 Congratulations Set. If the packaging is so important that you're going to pay a premium, then why remove the coin from it? My logic is that if you can't tell a difference by looking at the coin, then there is no difference. To each his own.

From what I've seen in the short time I've been into coin collecting that label makes a big difference to those into slabbed coins.

You're right. In the case of the 2016 Congratulations Set, the label is worth 30 or more times than the coin itself. I highly suspect that the price will come waaaaaaaaaay down once the hype of the 2017 Congratulations Set dies down.

Is this the same version as 2016 limited edition silver proof set which is still available on the mint website?

No, the 2017 has the 2017 S minted ASE which has a mintage of 125,000 I think.

@Shatsi, it is the same except for the S on the American Eagle rather than the W for West Point. Also, a PSA, some have noted difficulties ordering from the USmint site via Firefox. Good luck to all tomorrow...

Oh OK, Thanks for clarifying.

I'm off tomorrow so I just might try to snag a set.

74,898 2017-S sold in the 2017 Congratulations Set. 50,000 of the 2017 LESPS's can be produced. That puts the maximum mintage of 2017-S proof ASE's at 124,898 as of right now. Of course the mint could also still produce 102 more ASE's to round out the Congratulations Set to 75,000, but I doubt they will.
