Louis, I am seeing Die Deterioration and Machine Doubling. I don't think it is a DD but Chuck, Bill or Coop should show-up soon and confirm one way or the other.

The bar under the L leaves me to believe you are correct, after looking at coppercoins site.

The date does look like MD, Looking at the date at an angle it looks like the top of the numbers have taken a few hits over the years and flattened leaving a sharp edge, but I think it is a DD.

Looks like a doubled die especially on the L on LIBERTY. As far as being that die number I need to have an image showing the full date and mint mark. The mint mark on your coin looks a little lower than the 002. But an image showing that I can do an overlay with that coin. Also the 3 in the date should be affected. But looks real promising.

Here are some more pics of the date. I'm using a microscope to take the pics and I can't fit the hole date and MM in one shot. Hope theses pics are OK. Thanks for the help Coop.

The 3 looks like it took more hits then the rest and is almost flat at the top and I don't see any doubling.

I could copy your image, but I took a picture of your date6 and overlayed it with the 002 from coppercoins. Its a match. The mint mark which is placed by hand and is in a different location from die to die shows it to be that die. Nice find. The digits of the date are always the same size, so by cropping both images exactly the same and sizing them and doing an overlay they are a match.
