You may want to post these questions to the U.S. Classic sub-forum on this site for more visibility since the bulk of your coins would fall into that era.

Looks like you have a considerable amount of 90% silver coinage. Probably best to sort it out based on demomination and then split it into series (i.e. split the Standing Liberty quarters from the Washington quarters OR split the Mercury dimes from the Roosevelt dimes).

Most is just going to be "junk silver" while some could be considerably better due to high grade or due to be a rare key date that collectors are after for their collections.

Would suggest taking one series at a time. Each has it's rare and important coins/mintmarks. For instance, Washington quarters. Start in 1932 ,the D & S mints are considered rare in any grade. Silver coins run up to 1964, clads start 1965. I would further subdivide by decade at the outside if not by stacking each date and mintmark. Yea, lot of work, but it sounds and looks like you have quite a potential for A LOT of valuable single coins. If you have 5-1932D's and a couple 1916D Mercury dimes, one of you can quit working

Seperate by decade then study a source like the Red Book. This will show you values of those specific goodies to look for based on how many were minted...less minted, highr the value. Separating by metal content is just part of this hoards value. I take it you don't know a coin collector you trust to help you, that would certainly help. Offer them something for their help, believe me, it'll be worth it.

Red Book ordered on Tuesday.

Most of the coins were in bank bags to some extent or other, most in wrappers or what were wrappers. the clad was mostly loose in bags. They've only been sitting in plastic for a week. Looking for someone who knows coins.
