Thanks guys. No regrets but lets see what NGC says. The capped bust guys at the fun show all advised to go with NGC over PCGS. NGC is the authority on the series apparently.

Well, I hope you won't regret turning down 64 money, though I'm afraid you might. One of my favorite coins posted on CCF during 2017 for sure.

Yes. He viewed it as a raw coin. Remember I cracked it out awhile ago.

My original quote on page 4 Quote: Unless you screw up the coin while cracking it open or it gets lost, I don't see any risk by sending this to either PCGS or NGC, only upside. This is an MS coin, plain and simple. Congrats Mike! Don't sell this coin as MS 64... that guy is getting it cheap. It's a wonderful coin, keep it for yourself.

Mike - We all know you have a great eye and hope this works out. What service level priority are you using?

I don't know. I'm assuming it's economy. He submitted 5 other coins of mine along with 120 of his. It came to $25 per coin.

Wow. That's a zero added onto the value of the coin, and your initial investment is less important now. I'm left wondering if you're reaping the benefit of a slab series known to "turn" coins contained in them. It's hard to believe an OG ANACS slab containing a "circulated" coin they couldn't even tell was Mint State, and easier to believe that the surfaces upon which they based the conclusion of "rub" may have achieved some additional color since. One is led to see an Uncirculated coin when contemplating a slider whose surfaces have 100% color coverage. Then again, if this is to be a "lottery win" coin, you're certainly deserving.

Great question Super Dave and I'm left wondering the same thing. Whether what was once determined to be rub has toned over so that it no longer looks like rub to some. Or was it a bad grade and the grader determined the soft strike was rub. Who knows. I just have to wait for the professional opinion from one of NGC's coin graders. I've been looking at some other 32 small dates in ms and I have found others with a weak strike in those areas. Take a look at this small letters 32 graded ms-63. It exhibits the same soft areas. http://auctions.kagins.com/_i26659619

Dave, I revert back to my original argument (in page 4) that an AU coin will not exhibit rub only on the high points, but will also contain various spots/bag marks in the fields as well. Mike's coin has virtually flawless fields. I do not believe it possible for circulation to create the high-point "wear" we see on Mike's coin without at least leaving some sort of evidence in the fields. Heck, if I took an MS-70 coin and used a precision file to just file a way a bit of metal on the high points I doubt I would produce results anywhere near to what seen in Mike's coin. All the other AU coins I looked in Heritage's repository (I didn't obviously check all but I checked quite a few) had ample evidence of circulation in the fields.
Even if we assume re-toning occurred inside the slab, additional color will not eliminate circulation marks from the fields which leaves me to conclude that the grader was: A. Clueless B. Overly conservative C. Nervous and unsure D. Was looking at a different coin and got confused? E. Some other human Error F. All of the above
