Here are 3 Roman Republic silver denarii with horses and chariots, roughly dated by the previous owner at 200-100 BC. I'm wondering if it's possible to attribute them more thoroughly than this. Any help will be appreciated.

There's a photo of all three coins together front and back, then each one separately front and back aligned so the writing is easier to read.

Hi Seeker,

This site should provide much more info about the coinage; the reverse inscriptions should provide fairly precise information about the moneyer/consul for a given period.

http://www.beastcoins.com/RomanRepu...publican.htm

For example, the reverse which reads T.CLOVI(?) is likely from either 128 BC or 98 BC.

They're beautiful--Roman Republican coinage is always stunning! I hope this helps.

Alex, many thanks for the great source of information that I didn't know about!

Was able to find all three, plus a couple of others not posted.
Have bookmarked the BeastCoins site for future reference.

Just for the record, the moneyers for these three coins are:

Coin 1: C. Pulcher, 110 or 109 BC
Coin 2: C. Plutius, 121 BC
Coin 3: T. Cloulius, 128 or 98 BC (as mentioned in previous post)

Just remember a note of caution -- don't buy coins that say BC on them after the date!

Glad to help! IDing new coins is one of the most enjoyable parts of the hobby for me!

Cheers, Alex
