Take a look at the copper on the edge of the coin. If it is darker, Then you know you are not seeing copper color on the quarter. It should be red: Do you see the weakness of the strike because of the missing clad layer? This happens on missing cladding on coins: What happens when you compare a missing clad coin with a red colored coin? Note the coin on the right is normal, but that color because of being found outdoors. But note, there is no weakness on the rim area? That is because the coin was normal, but because of the missing cladding the coin on the left is a real missing clad coin?
