I knew something was up when I saw the roll, and one of the coins was larger than the others. I am assuming this is a partial collar, rather than an encased-cent type PSD, since the coin is a little bit larger than a normal nickel.

Looks a little thinner too--maybe a so-called "Texas" nickel?

Like how you noticed the roll! Yep partial collar, not fully employed.

Ah ok yes now I see--the rim of the nickel is in two diameters (one from being in the collar and one from being out of it). Sorry about that @aristarchus123, but I thought that you had laid a "regular" nickel on top of the nickel in question for the edge pic--my bad.

Thanks, everyone!

Spence, I almost posted photo of this coin next to a nickel, and doing so would have made my post clearer. Thanks!

It is possible that I would have missed this coin had I not noticed the anomaly through the wrapper.
Rest in Peace

I agree, but the 2X2 is not worthy - it won't show the edge.

Very nice find! It shows a very nice Partial Collar. It was pretty cool that you noticed it in the roll before you opened it up.

If you use a quarter or half dollar size 2x2, it will give enough free space around the coin to still see the edge.

Nice catch! I'm always eyeing the wrappers too for anomalies...
