It could be late Magadha, or Mauryan - I haven't found a definitive way to tell. 350-180 BC would be a good guess. Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 05/08/2018 9:17 pm Almost certainly Gupta-Hardaker #482, Maghada-Mauryan series Va, time of Chandragupta Maurya (c. 321-298 BC) and Bindusare (c. 298-273) BC. 1. Six-armed symbol 2. Sun 3. Three arches on a base, central one taller. 4. Dog with pup in mouth (indistinct). 5. Three vertical poles on base, two topped with diagonal "flags", all flanked by two arches. Symbol #4 is indistinct but "dog with pup" seems to be the only one that is known in combination with #3 and #5, which are clear. The arms on the six-armed symbol vary from type to type. Two arms are off flan on this example but the 4 that show are consistent with GH #482. Edited by Kushanshah 05/08/2018 9:19 pm Report this Post to the Staff
