Quote: Did the Mint hire film director Tim Burton as an engraver? That $100 beaver coin and the $100 Portrait of a Princess coins are pretty demonic. Can't imagine HRH's eyes really look like that on the actual coin.
And it might just be me but I also see an evil clown's face in Elizabeth's hair. lol Agree. That beaver looks even creepier than the Queen's eyes. Makes me think of the expression: "hiding the truth in plain sight."

Quote: It will be interesting to see how many dealers next week actually offer this 5oz Penny. Colonial Acres today had the 5 oz penny for $531 for VIP members. Sold out though.

The 2018 version more beautiful than the 2012, cause the leaves highlighted with bronze (or bronzish gold?) like original Penny.
But, being year 2018, it "less circulation coin", than the 2012 (the 2012 coin belongs to the group of the last pennies, so the 2018 is beautiful remake/re-strike )

Then the VIP price showed up afterwards. Sometimes they list coins on their site even when they're not available for purchase. If they had any available today it was probably a very small number at issue price.

I've never actually saw any in hand images of the 5 Oz penny's yet....hopefully another one pops up on ebay for issue price. it's been so long since I bought RCM...what day and time each month do they release coins to the general public? Seems crazy but I can't remember.

At 6:20pm on 5-Aug-18, the 2018 Pure Silver Coloured 6-Coin Set with Medallion is showing as "Awaiting Stock." Hard to imagine it is sold out, but one never knows! If I had to guess, I would say that it is a temporary situation and that it will be available again on the RCM site.

It's been awaiting stock for a couple of days now. I agree that this is probably temporary. It will probably be on sale again as soon as it hit the public for purchase. Hard to believe that 7000 would be sold out in such a short time.IMO

Quote: Hard to believe that 7000 would be sold out in such a short time.IMO The RCM did not sell out all 7000 sets because they do not have all 7000 sets. While it is true they minted 7000 sets, the RCM never have the entire mintage for any coin. They split their mintage among their many dealers. How much is the allotment for this set is anyone's guess. All we know for sure is the RCM sold out their share of the set. Other dealers still have it in stock. Colonial Acres and CC&C still have stock. In fact we see this RCM scam of fake sell outs all the time. Sometimes the RCM sell out in a coin in minutes, only to see plenty of stock at other dealers. This is especially the case with commissioned coins by Steve Bromberg.

Agree.
I know that this Wednesday's on the TSC coin show will have a good amount of the sets to go around. Especially if Mr Bromberg had anything to to with this set.

The RCM is simply reporting on the status of its supply of a particular coin or set. It never states that the piece is sold out from all potential sources, just its own inventory. When a coin or set does shift to "Awaiting Stock" on the RCM site, it is always followed by the text "Available from Official Dealers" on the item's sales page. So, where is the scam? Folks are so quick to cast the RCM as the "Evil Empire." I don't get it!

@commems I do agree with all that you posted; however, where the big "LIE" is on RCM's part and CC&C's part is the 2018 big coin series whereby they stated from the beginning that the 7th and final coin in this series would be the 'PENNY' and only available with the subscription. I am truly disturbed by this as I ordered the subscription under this false and misleading claim. RCM, CC&C, Colonial acres all had it for sale as a single. I will never order another big coin series again because of all these mistruths.

Perhaps scam is the wrong word, but the tactics of the RCM is very misleading with their so called quick sell outs. They are fooling new coin collectors in thinking the shortage of coins means scarcity and value when 98% of the time they drop in value within months of issue. You see this all the time on The Coin Show when Steve Bromberg brag this coin sold out in minutes or hours at the RCM. Sure the RCM sold out of the coins, but how many did they have? For all we know, the RCM could have only 200 of a 1000 mintage, which could account for the quick sell out.

So I would correct a bit. I think, RCM uses it, when the coin haven't sold yet, and then we see ads with "70% already sold" or "90% already sold". In addition it allows Mint to use "previous issues sold out". But who really likes to operate with the "Mint soldout" - the dealers.

2018 Pure Silver Coloured 6-Coin Set with Medallion - Canadian Circulation Collection. Back on sale. 65 in stock as of 10 am Quote: It will probably be on sale again as soon as it hit the public for purchase. Hard to believe that 7000 would be sold out in such a short time.IMO Just as I suspected. RCM does this all the time, so that the GP has an opportunity to purchase the set.

I ordered this colourized silver set from Talisman. I haven't purchased anything for over a year and let my platinum masters club status lapse. This set, I think, will look nice on display and is more in line with traditional mint offerings. I've just kept track of what other loonies and toonies that have been recently minted that would be needed to keep my collection complete and may go back and collect them some time in the future.
