Just purchased my 2018 Color Circulation Set from RCM. When I checked first thing this morning it showed "awaiting stock" but when I checked again just recently it showed available.

The big Penny available from Talisman for USD 429.95

So basically...this coin is available.
(sorry for New1958 and other members, who was mislead by RCM advertisement)

FWIW, I ordered the colourized set too (from a dealer). I think it will show well and the 7K mintage is relatively low for a proof set so maybe it will hold it's value.

Is it odd that CC&C show the set in their new release banner but I don't seem to be able to find it for sale on their site?

I hope this is not another of their commissions with all the 'marketing' slight of hand that usually goes with that.

The set does have that "feel" to me.

I find it a bit odd for the RCM to include a silver medal in the set vs. a silver dollar. I could envision the RCM telling CC&C - "Yes, we will produce a colourised set of circulating coins for you, but the traditional SD can't be part of it."

Of course, pure conjecture on my part...

I purchased the colourized set from Canada Post this afternoon.

I will be breaking apart this set keeping the Lonnie and 5 cent, the rest will be sold.

I purchased the same set at the Ottawa mint location. There were a few other people there purchasing the same set, as I got mine.

I will say though, I really like the colorization on the coins. And the medallion is very attractive too but unfortunately it isn't a true silver dollar.

The only dealer in Canada that had the 5 oz penny was Gatewest Coins.

This is what I thought about many coins.
Than realized, that if I would ask myself "what for to hold them?" - will be no answer.

So yes, I still hold 2012 Big Penny, but not sure about "forever"

Fair enough silveroid...I actually got into The NCLT back in 2012 with the whole farewell to the penny thing...I'm someone who pays with cash most of the time and roll my spare change twice a year,so the penny hit home with me in 2012...

The last few years I've barely bought any coins however at least one coin a year catches me off guard like the 2018 penny and again back in 2015 with the big loonie that I grabbed on issue day.The 2012 pink gold plated penny in the proof set and the half ounce version are A couple of my favourites so the 5 ouncer was a no brainer for me....

You are very lucky to get the single 2018 5oz Penny from a Canadian dealer at issue price. CC&C probably wasn't lying when they stated this coin was rare. Looks like only a few dealers were able to get a very small allotment.

It appears that The Coin Shoppe had two, and sold the second one for $610. Talisman has only two. Gatewest is selling to only those who bought the previous 6 coins. If they have any left over they might list them on ebay, since they are not taking any names for a waiting list.

So much for this coin being attained only through the Big Coin subscription. Shame on you RCM.

If anyone is interested on the 2018 Big Coin One Cent - Maple Twig Design. TSC has it for sale at $599.95 at 6 easy pays. It shows that there are more than 10 plus.

Item # is 665-511

Place it in the search and grab it while you can.

Cheers!

But will TSC sell it as single, means in the dedicated box with COA, or it just "coin in the capsule", taken out of set?

@Silveroid

Good point. To me it really doesn't matter as I'm putting this coin on display. Also received 1.5% cash back. I won't be buying anything from the RCM this year(unless it is a must have before it sells out) because their incentive program just plainly suck.Imo
