Quote: You guys who were able to place orders had better provide some good photos when you get 'em. That's an order! Here it is: United States, 25 dollars (1oz Pd), 2018: This close-up shows the two types of frosting on the reverse -- horizontal rows of sharp dots on the ground and plants, and softer frosting with random dots on the eagle itself:

Great pics, and thanks for the close-up! That's very interesting about the frosting techniques.

Interestingly, the Sep09 sales figure only shows 8,890 of these to be sold. I think next week's figure may be more true to the fact that these are pretty much sold out by now.Looked at the wrong item... Of course, the correct sales figure is 14,796.

Sales figures from this morning's article: Quote: The 2018-W $25 Proof American Palladium Eagle lasted less than five minutes from its Sept. 6 launch before becoming unavailable. Its first-day sales reached 14,782 out of the possible 15,000 mintage.
It climbed a bit since to 14,796, according to the latest United States Mint sales stats. That figure will change again and again as the U.S. Mint continues to reconcile orders.

Well, I'm sad! I just found out about this and they are sold out. Lately I've been buying one "special" coin or coin set from the mint each year, and this would have been a great addition to my collection.

It certainly would have, barryg. I'm bummed I didn't pull the trigger. Too much else going on at the moment.
I wonder if the 2019 issue will also be 15k.

I can't imagine that these things will hold 3X bullion value over the long term

I tend to agree but.... it *is* the inaugural issue....

Inaugural proof issue. Last year's MS has held its premium and then some, but nothing like this (but then it wasn't selling for this much more). The low mintage will help ensure a premium exists but I expect prices to settle eventually. Current ebay prices are insane.
