Dorado, sorry for the late reply, been away for a while. I don't understand why you're so concerned. It's a lovely coin, a huge number of varieties exist and dies were cut by hand, not copy/pasted by a machine. If in doubt spend 50$ and get it slabbed.

I'd recommend authentication.

If the coin was mine and I'am convinced it is authentic
I will not hesitate to do it .

Did I miss where this thread mentioned how much the OP's coin weighed? That can usually be a good indicator.
NGC says 28.85 grams for this series.

And I'm guessing it was checked with a magnet?

It looks a bit grubby but quite a decent grade....hope my one doesn't cause the same controversy.

Marbury, (my favorite basketball player of all time by the way), I don't mean to alarm but can you post pics of the edge.

There are some things in your example that don't look quite right. What is the weight of the coin.

@Marbury
Overall there is not anything that screams "fake" to me. The portrait looks similar to others I seen, however the pattern of wear on the obverse does look somewhat odd. Also the reverse doesn't seem to have as much wear as the obverse. The irregularities of the planchet are typical and lend some credibility. The threes in the date are unusual. Every example I've seen Is a variety in some way due to the technology of the day. So I'm tending toward authentic.

It came from a reputable auction house who deal in such coins regularly. I also note that the wear on the sash is consistent with NGC graded examples.
