What do you think the aftermarket will look like for these coins, particularly the gold $5? I remember the gold Baseball HOF coins sold out within days and people were selling them online for $700 and change. I was hoping to buy 5 of these good Apollo coins, keep 1 and flip 4, hopefully so I can break even and have one for basically free.

Key words "..were selling them for $700"...now they are available for significantly under issue price

I get the fact that they "were" selling for $700. This is what usually happens when a us mint product launches and immediately sells out: people go nuts on ebay for a few months and the price comes back down to reality. So I probably should have asked, what are peope's Thoughts on how quickly the gold proof may sell out.

I personally think your best bet is getting your household limit on the half dollar set with the enhanced reverse proof Kennedy half. There is a 100,000 limit with household limit of 5. I'm guessing they will be sold out with about 30,000 orders, in less than 10 minutes.

I will definitely be buying 1 or 2 of the 1/2 dollar sets, and I'm in for 1 of everything but still feeling out the gold offerings. Given the subject matter, I have to imagine that the gold coins will do better than the past few years.

Quote: Key words "..were selling them for $700"...now they are available for significantly under issue price Sort of. Some people are silly enough to dump them in a true ebay action where you get what you deserve now for that, but significantly under issue price or always under issue price is just not correct at all. NGC ones yes are going lower, PCGS ones with better signatures are not. They certainly aren't at their high point, but dumping things in ebay auctions like some have doesn't make the overall market

I was commenting on raw coin prices not graded ones with special or signature labels. Last raw gold (BIN not auction) unc went for $375 + shipping (unc..$432 issue price). With that said there seems to be much better BIN sale prices for the raw PF ($499) vs. the raw Unc... ..but a NGC PF70 sold last week for a BIN best offer of $400 So it's hit and miss but it definitely is a quick flip item and not a hold for four years thing ...and I will disagree with ebay auction prices not being the real market ...in reality they ARE the market and the market for all coins is down right now Just because some loner decides to overpay for a BIN doesn't mean that's the real price...any in demand item will be bid up by those who want it BUT want it at their price. I will agree that right now is not the time to use an auction sale...BIN's are the way to go if you can accept that they might not sell..but you also won't give it away

Thank you for the welcome guys. I'm just looking really for a few quick flips with some of these commemoratives. The Kennedy halves set may be he best way to go it seems, but I'm not going to count the gold coin out as well. I personally love this design even though a lot of people aren't too enthused. I would like to gather a Kennedy half set, 5 ounce puck, and gold coin for my personal collection and alleviate the costs by buying extra and reselling them.

I think it's definitely worth a shot, but the high mintage limits on the silver coins is likely to limit flip potential. You may have something with the Kennedy set as you pointed out.

I'm not messing around. Already took the day off and will be camped out on the site to reload at noon. Going to buy 2 sets of the halves and the 5 ouncers for my boys. I think both will do well on the first day, and hopefully will retain some added value.

That ship has sailed at the Mint 4) no such beast as an enhanced reverse proof coin..either enhanced finished OR reverse proof
