I think this is an "S" mint coin that has had the mint mark removed. I hope I'm wrong.

Seems the OP wanted a grade not a lecture - Kinda looks like an XF40 - toning makes it look better. But lecture it is - the date just looks so strange/wrong. on the reverse all the high points are not worn evenly.

The date position looks about correct but it sure looks like a New Orleans strike. Please see the attached link for die markers for the only die pairing for '94-P. They should all still be present on your example. Grade, AU50 possibly details. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...1894-P_VAM-3

I just purchased, will receive in a few days and post updates. I did find a link, there is a die marker near the left foot of the eagle that makes it 100% real or fake. If it's not there it's been altered. That will be the first thing I look at lol

If the OP feels lectured I humbly apologize. My initial response should have been "XF/AU, weird toning, possibly cleaned and/or whizzed and may not be genuine due to a removed "S" mintmark." A few questions: Was it bought from an online coin dealer or an ebay coin dealer? Does it come with a reasonable return privilege? Why was it not already slabbed?

Quote: ebay, 50k sales, 99.7% positive and 14 day return policy I would think an ebay seller with those kind of numbers would try to squeeze every dime out of a coin like that by getting it TPG'd. My guess is that coin was sent off for grading (at least once) and came back in a body bag. If it is a genuine, problem-free 1894-P mint coin I will be very surprised and will eat a well cooked Crow pie for dinner to atone for my doubts!
