My "Buy of the Week" was my order to the U.S. Mint for 2006 Silver Proof Sets for myself and some of our children and grandchildren.
It was considered the "Buy of the Week," not because of a special price but simply because I feel they are beautiful, especially this year, and probably my favorite purchase from the mint each year.

I went to a little town as a road trip with my parents, and stumbled into a coin shop. 1921 Morgan dollar, courtesy of my dad.. (Sry, don't have sufficient technology to post pics right now.)

I went to the mint in a class trip and bought a proof state quater set 2006 series, and 1943 steel cent set which all the coins are in ms-63and 65. Which cost me about 27.65$ but the steel cents come from all three mints of that time so its 1 S marked steel cent 1 D marked steel cent 3 P marked steel cent and the State Quarters are all beutiful except for nevada which is a beauti but Nevada is not like that. But my favorite one North Dakota can you guess why its very simple please post with quote if you guess there no prize because this is a brain teaser it the only animal I obesse about

Intrigued by the talk of Morgan and Peace dollars from you fellows in the USA I picked up a well circulated 1925 Peace dollar for a little above bullion value last week. Man I just cant put this thing down. The size and heft of it and the size of the design just blow me away. It's been in my pocket for 4 days and comes out several times during the day for an inspection. Based on my reaction to the Peace dollar I forked out $33 for an UNC 1885 O Morgan and an AU 1921 Morgan (probably well above their value but The Urge to Buy (tm) over took me :D) last Monday. I cant wait for those beauties to arrive!

if you like the Peace dollars design just wait until you get the morgan, both about the same size and weight but the morgan (in my opinion) is just a far more beautiful coin. I also see you are close to your 50 post minimum to buy/sell/trade on the forum and when you reach that there are some morgans that jd has in there for sale pretty cheap. Just a thought that way you wont have to pay the high prices of some of the ebay seellers and you will know who you are dealing with. I just love to see someone just getting interested in Morgans because they are always excited about their new coinsedit: Oh yeah, when you receive the 1921 Morgan take a few pictures of it and post it and you may have found a nice VAM coin because 1921 has quite a few of them in the Morgan series

Buy of the week came last Wednesday when I was in Denver for the Colorado Statehood Quarter launch. Only people who were in attendance at the ceremony were able to buy first-day-of-issue quarters and special sets. I bought a bunch.

I'm looking forward to getting them, the should be here on wednesday. Searching around on ebay it looks like at AU$33 for both I didn't get a bad price. Beginners luck on my behalf. I'll try to post photos when they get here! Thanks for the kind words. Mark

I went into a 'collectibles' shop yesterday and they had a basket of world coins on the counter at five for a dollar (there was a boat load of coins, it was a *big* basket). I walked out 30 minutes later with 15 pre 1964 dimes. Not a bad buy, AU$3 for coins containing AU$14.50 worth of silver.
I'm heading back today to pick up all the early New Zealand and UK silver coins I saw because I wanted to come home and check the dates that actually contain bullion.

Not quite a "buy" but a trade, am posting this coin for those who have not seen it before. This coin features a unique "locket" concept containing small free flowing alluvial gold nuggets. The locket is encased in a pure silver 1 oz coin. Minted by the Perth Mint, it is an NCLT with a mintage of no more than 12,500.

Here is what I scored this week....1958 O Seated Liberty Half, 1853 Seated Liberty Half and tonight I took my mother out to dinner and she came out with 1946D and 1946S Walking Liberty halves in AU condition and a 1925 Peace dollar for me. She says she has some older coins somewhere that she will dig out when she can remember where she put them. She is 81 so that might take a while......lol Cheers !
