Quote: I don't understand how someone could waste money buying something over face value. I really don't understand how someone can pay multiples of melt for a PM coin when people are starving in the world. That's an opinion and I'm not offended by it at all. I'd be happy to discuss why I collect with anyone who has such an opinion. I don't get my feelings hurt in the least that someone has this opinion and it doesn't bother me that they would share it with me. Quote: See how this works when you try and impose your likes and beliefs on how people collect. Sharing an opinion isn't imposing likes and beliefs. If I were to impose on another, I'd have to use force of some sort. No such thing has happened here or been suggested. I do think that it's good when people think about why they're doing something before they proceed. Hearing the opinions of others is often helpful. I for sure have benefited from the opinions of others and when they asked me why. Based on what I've seen, some collectors (especially new ones) get too focused on having others validate what they collect (3rd party graders) and spend too much of their collecting budget on such immaterial validations. I do believe that 3rd party graders can provide a valuable service in some situations, but most of what they provide is not value added. Again, this is my opinion. Don't anyone lose sleep over it.

Quote: My life's not so complicated. When I buy coins from the mint, I just take it at face value that they came in the packaging they arrived in. I don't need to pay someone else to remove them from the packaging and then give their expert professional certification about what they were packaged in but no longer are. I think where TPG really comes into play is old coins. I like buying ASE's from the mint but all my gold half eagles from the 1880-1905 time period are TPG

No, I didn't order from them but I heard from others that theirs was cancelled so I was wondering if it's systemic or maybe they had an issue with how they ordered

Up until earlier this year the only post-1964 U.S. coins I collected were the ASE and AGE. But I think I've finally reached my limits on those series. I could never justify spending the money on a 95 W since so many exceptional early classic issues were available for significantly less. Then I missed the 16 Congratulations and Limited Edition, and again, I just can't justify that much money for relatively common coins. That's saying nothing of the Annual, Congratulations, Limited Edition, Reverse Proof, multi-mint Proofs, Burnished, and "minted at" without the mint mark issues. Now there will be yet another finish type. It's appropriate that the issue is in conjunction with the Canadian Mint since they have cornered the market on hokey coins that shoot night lasers at invading squash plants. It's sad to close a set because of mint greed. But I guess I can still enjoy my yearly MS, Burnished, and Proof and say to heck with the rest. Of course, you can buy one of these pre-sale 2019 ASE on ebay right now for ONLY $575.

Ordered online at 9:30 yesterday morning, and received the cancellation email 1:30 today. Edit: I just sent an email asking why orders placed in the afternoon are being fulfilled before those placed in the morning. Don't expect much of it, but it's clearly not right.

What's weird is that I placed my order via phone because the site had a note saying you had to call. Wouldn't allow online orders. If yours was cancelled then chances are mine will be too.
