Just received my 5 ASE sets but I've not yet opened the original box yet, still thinking whether it's worth it or not to have it graded as "Early Release" , etc.

So for now, I'll just make myself happy looking at images of these coins.....But it's tempting to just rip the box open and look at the silver beauty!!

What's the issue with opening the box? Can't you look at the coins and still get them to either NGC or PCGS in time for their respective early designations on the label

Status on my order hasn't updated since it left MS on Saturday. I'm in TX so I figured it would have updated by now. Supposed to arrive by Thursday so if no update by tonite then may end up getting pushed back.

Mine arrived today. I plan on keeping them in the OGP so I opened them and looked at them in the case. Beautiful coins.

Of course I will need a PR70 ASE reverse proof for my PCGS set so I am grateful to all of you who submit to TPG

my question is do I look for a MS70 in PCGS holder right away or wait until the price stabilizes?

For coins received in their original sealed Mint shipping box, the NGC certification label will indicate the country whose mint sold the set, and these will be listed separately in the NGC Census. Coins that are not submitted in their original sealed Mint shipping box will still receive the "Pride of Two Nations" set pedigree.

Coins received by NGC within the first 30 days of their release are eligible for NGC's popular Early Releases and First Releases designations. For Early Releases / First Releases. If you send in an open box the only thing you won't get is the U.S.set on the label.

Agreed with above, you have the time. The only issue is whether you want the set designation from NGC, but it's probably not worth it for the US set.

My set is definitely remaining in the OGP and it is definitely going to be opened as soon as I get it.

BadDog: There may be benefits, in the future, in having an unopened box from the Mint fulfillment center. Some people like that, pay an extra premium. And, as you pointed out, shipping in the original mailing package is an option for PCGS Early or First Release grading.

However, the sets were sold out so fast that all of them should be considered Early or First Releases, actually. Unless you want to distinguish between those sold on July 3 (75,000 First/Early Releases!!), with those sold on July 4th or 5th. They're not like most coins whose sales last for months or even for a year or more.

What do you mean shipping in the original mailing package is an option for PCGS Early or First Release grading?
How much is the grading and is it worth it?

My sets arrived today. The ASE's are very nice, the quality is nicer than some recent proofs I've received from the mint lately. The Canadian Maple is nice, I like the maple leaf design, not so crazy about the reverse though.

So I'll be eating crow for the diss on fedex smartpost, but I guess it's a fair trade.

US Mint Sales Report scheduled for Tuesday @ 5pm, didn't happen.

Do you suppose the USM lost track of a few coin sets, and is trying to figure out where they are?

Strike up the presses!
