Yes. I think the theme is peace, and possibly anniversary of the end of WWII, something like that. Just can't get a handle on it?

Don't think so. Geese tend to have bills and longer necks. These definitely have beaks.
Mind you given the overall quality of the design they could be ostrich!

Yeah! I just saw the link today and I said to myself "why not?"
Also, the birds were in fact phoenixes. It was a coin to commemorate the end of WWII, and showed war-ravaged Europe (the phoenixes) rising from its ashes to become a new Europe

How embarassed am I? I have one of those. Not sure if they came in silver, mine is copper-nickel. It's not an official release however and as such will not be appearing in the regular Krause. It will be in "unusual world coins" at some point if not already. We did agree earlier in this thread, (page 11) only to include "real coins". As such I am glad it didn't go all the way. Well done WD1040 I'll second the coin, which means you're up. Can I put another suggestion forward for consideration? That we exclude all those collector one year types that were never actually used as coins in the countries they purport to come from. We include one year commems that were genuine circulating coins but not the pokemon, star trek, favourite dogs, cats, bunnies etc? Just a suggestion what does everyone think?

Sweet.... Here's a pretty easy one, since the last one was really long, but fun nevertheless Image: CIMG4044.jpg94.14 KB Image: CIMG4045.jpg99.61 KB Also, it's only the reverse and they're rotated to show the two latent images.

That's right!
And do any of you guys know of some other circulation coins that use latent images?
I know the Taiwan NTD 20 does, the Japan JPY 50 does, and the first version of the bimetallic 2 quid. Any other coins?

There are quite a lot of Russian ones that do (10 Roubles from about 2004 on)
Seychelles, Singapore, Thailand, Jersey all have some.
