better photos would really help. You can probably take a screenshot instead of a photo of your computer monitor to help increase clarity. Also, to echo the frog, orienting your photos right side up helps, too.

When you put pics into the image optimizer, it lowers the file size initially. If it is still to large, use that size box to lower it until it's a good file size. I had problems at first with it until I saw that option.

Option 2 is to crop all the excess area out, thereby the image size will be at least reduced without optimization.
