I have a 2018 P dime can someone please look at this picture and tell me your thoughts?

The one on the left is a normal dime and The one on the right has a spot twords the top of his head.

That is not a spot. That is a minor die chip. (spots are often level with the coin. Die chips are raised. Not a big deal. We often see examples with lots of die chips. No premium for this. More of an educational thing.


Die chips on dimes are very common. How does this happen? Probably on the dimes because we see a lot of these, the dies were possibly quenched too soon making the die brittle. Tempering has to be done at the right time. Otherwise the dies will be too soft or too brittle. Got to wait for the blue line to tell you when to quench them.

Your images are too small to see anything significant, we need a closer pic, but my guess is there may be a die chip on the head
