How To Exchange US Pennies? - Coin Community Forum

Al D New Member Canada 27 Posts	Posted 01/30/2020 6:58 pm I'm from Canada and have a few rolls of pre-1982 US pennies (no errors found) I'd like to deposit at the bank. Thing is, my bank only accepts them at par with the Canadian dollar (and currently, 1 USD = 1.32 CAD). What could I alternatively (and legally) do with them not to lose 0.32 CAD on every 100 US pennies I have? Report this Post to the Staff

Joma New Member Canada 26 Posts	Posted 01/31/2020 7:55 pm Sort them by grade for the practice. Throw a few out there for the opinion of others to see how well you did. This will let you get way more out of it then an extra .32 cent a piece. Unless of course you have 50 000 rolls. Report this Post to the Staff

As a kid, my dad would give me a few pennies to make wishes with and throw in the water fountains at the mall. The fun of doing that again would've been "worth" way more than depositing them at the bank (and I would've had bagfuls of wishes to make!), but they've since removed the fountains...
