That sure looks like the OP's coin all right. Definitely not the way I'd have expected to learn it - would have thought it would be major news level...

Good news for the OP, I guess! I wonder if the coin was sold on already or not yet. It probably would make major news if/when it sells.

I see that there's about twice as many views on this thread now as there'd been as of my listing of the most viewed single-coin threads three years ago.

Unfortunately now that I've redone the check (more widely this time - in particular, including threads that technically included several coins only one of which was significant, but also including then-archived threads that have now joined the main subforums) I see that this thread still barely makes top ten; even if we discount the coins that turned out to be fake and/or not coins, it barely makes top five (behind the gold colored quarter at 102k, undated 1916 quarter at 99k, and 1943 franc and Kwangtung cash both at 86k - and don't ask me why any of those except the 1916 had anywhere near this many views).

Interesting update. If PCGS was good enough to put their stamp of approval on it after several years that's good enough for me! Congrats to the owner!

Persistence finally pays off. It takes a lot of time to vet the unbelievable. Wish I could afford it.

very looking forward to seeing the full article! It's probably going to be very big news, so maybe it's just waiting for a suitably big publication to be reported in.
