Thanks for sharing the link, larsjan! I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about this wonderful discovery prior to the auction in November. Congratulations once again!

Thank you, everyone. Unfortunately, I couldn't share anything about the coin for a long time. Now the news is finally out. I am over the moon and have been speechless since I found out that it has been authenticated and will be auctioned.
What an adventure this has been!

Quote: I am over the moon and have been speechless Heck, I still get excited finding a silver coin in change, so I can only imagine how this must feel! The only question now is how high the bidding will go at auction.

Big congrats larsjan - just spent the last hour reading the entire saga. Funny how the "expert" naysayers have disappeared from view. I'm guessing there was an ulterior motive behind the negativity.

This was a four year adventure. I am just tuning in, but I can tell right away it was the real deal. Congrats, sir!

Followed this thread since day one and commented and encouraged the OP to press-on in spite of negativity from several naysayers. It is amazing those "Debbie downers" have all disappeared! Those types can't believe they can be wrong and will probably doubt the PCGS certification, too. Glad Lars was patient and got a positive outcome. I hope the auction does well for him! Truly, a once in a lifetime experience that most of us can only dream about! Huge congratulations!

As auction prices go, this has all the signs of a truly top-level coin - perhaps beating the current record! Though then again I thought the same of the Eid Mar aureus and then it didn't even beat the ancient coin record.
Almost surely going to be a seven figure result, though. Hoping for eight figures, wouldn't rule out nine.

I will be running a contest ( because I didn't run one for my 1000th post) in honor of Larsjan's excellent New England 1652 Three Pence find and the fantastic journey he and the coin have taken us on for the last number of years. It has been a thrilling ride, thanks Larsjan I'm very happy for you. I will post the contest by the end of today in another post.
