larsjan I cannot say how envious and PROUD I am of you. Not only did you push through thick and thin over these past four years, and through some seemingly endless moments of waiting, you acquired a piece of HISTORY!

Reading this thread was a roller coaster. Thank you to all who supported larsjan through his waiting, and I cannot WAIT to see this piece find a rightful place in the history book, maybe, someday, a museum.

Congrats again. If I am even 1% as lucky as you in this hobby, it'd have been worth it :)

Congratulations doesn't really say enough, it is a life changing discovery. I am very happy for you and glad you stuck with it. I wonder if Coin World Magazine will write up on the coin and the back story,it would make a great read as it did here on Coin Community. Mike Diamond is a member here and works for the magazine.

Congratulations on a good ending. Now we will all wait for the end of the auction and the announcement of the final sale amount. I have been watching this topic for 4 years and I am pleased to realize that I, although not much, but participated in this long story.

westernsky: not quite, still here... but thanks for caring! We tossed this coin around a few other places, and we are thunderstruck. t's the most exciting Colonial Coin find in over a century, longer maybe. That's all there is to say except Congratulations, Good Luck and God Bless, larsjan!

In case I win the Mega Millions tonight (), does anyone know if the original coin holder stays with the coin when it sells at auction? Was there any other provenance besides that?

I was going to ask the same question, Larsjan, did you keep the original holder or did you send it out with the coin? I have seen the coin but not the holder.
