There is a second number 1 of this series that I have seen, 72L 000001, which turned up in an auction a few years ago, and I have a 1969 number 1 - can't find a scan of it now, will post later.

My other Irish Legal Tender No.1 note. Low numbers below 10 of Irish notes are tough to find. Most of the known examples pre-1976 are in museums.

Thanks! I got it at a show in Dublin around 15 years ago. We had been discussing whether or not any Lavery No.1 notes had survived in collector hands, and a couple of hours later a retired banker came in with this 1969 note! They worked the room with it, and my offer came out on top. It is interesting because it is the starting note of a print run (source on this is Central Bank of Ireland archives).

All #1 notes are tough & that's another beauty "Orac!" (Great add!)
Re: my BSJ0000002 $20 (which I posted above on April 20) & entered it into the Canadian Paper Money Forum Database, I got several enquiries whether I was interested in selling. (There is a feature which notified other members when certain numbers were entered & alerted registered members)
So, yeah, the low # (below 10) are sure tough & seldom seen.

Here is a low number £5 Irish C Series Legal Tender Note which I spotted on ebay a year or so ago. It is a first date, first prefix AAH 000021, twenty first note on the first block!

I liked #67 at the time as it was the year of Canada's confederation (1867-1967). It also happens to be the first prefix (EA) & I had an *EA replacement (one of my first) below it.

Very nice! Love the numbers without leading zeros, pre-1900 Irish notes were similar.

I got this 5 Reals from Brazil (P-253c, 2nd family) a while back & forgot about it. Here it is, not below 100 but a fairly low #201 nevertheless (with 6 0's before the number):
