SilverCents Pillar of the Community United States 3281 Posts	Posted 04/30/2020 12:52 pm So I've been trying to figure out what exactly is going on in this topic I've created: http://goccf.com/t/373025 As you can see there is something going on in LIBERTY, and the LI or abnormally thick. I've been told that this is Hub Doubling, mixed with MD. I was provided this link (Thank you John1): http://www.error-ref.com/?s=hub+doubling It talks about how hub doubling is a type of Doubled Die. This confused me as I saw no other difference between a Doubled Die and Hub Doubling, besides the fact that Hub Doubling is lighter and less severe. Report this Post to the Staff

SamCoin Pillar of the Community United States 3237 Posts	Posted 04/30/2020 1:12 pm The hub is a negative of the die that is used to press the images into the dies. If a hub has doubling, every die it creates will have the same doubling. Report this Post to the Staff

scstrawn Pillar of the Community United States 536 Posts	Posted 04/30/2020 3:02 pm If hub doubling affects all the dies made from that hub, and there are quite a few made from each hub, and each die is used for around 200k coins, then the hub doubled coin is not going to be very rare/scarce. Is it more valuable? Not really, but it may be interesting enough to keep regardless. Report this Post to the Staff
